Provides numerical control, machining and programming technical experience. Establishes technical requirements for manufacturing and producibility. Plans, creates, verifies and revises Machine Control Data (MCD), geometry and documentation that directs the operations for a complete spectrum of numerically controlled equipment required to manufacture and inspect parts, tools and assemblies for departmental work. Plans and guides the development and integration of new machining techniques and manufacturing methods, processes, software and equipment. Works under general direction.
Responsibilities for CMM programmer
Ability to create numerically controlled inspection equipment programs
Ability to develop work instructions for the set-up and operation of various programs
Ability to install/align/secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on numerically controlled inspection equipment
Ability to interact with equipment manufactures (OEMs) to problem solve and implement software updates etc.
Determine conformance of products based on data received from numerically controlled inspection equipment
Assist Quality Engineers in dimensional inspection of product for FAI and Quality investigations when required
Assist in collecting and analyzing data for measurement systems analysis, capability studies, gauge R&R etc.
Assist Quality Engineer or Quality Manager to define and deliver responses to customer requests and inquiries related to product quality/conformity
Maintain documentation records and data on tests performed
Maintain configuration control on all numerically controlled inspection equipment software and programs
Perform root cause analysis on quality issues, gather defect data to support continuous improvement efforts, recommend solutions to complex problems and implement corrective actions
Review processes and provide feedback to Engineering on design and Manufacturing issues that emerge and work in cross-functional teams to find resolution
Oversee/review/audit inspection activities when required to ensure compliance to process
Create special test programs to facilitate testing and/or evaluation as needed
Work closely with Inspection personnel, Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering to create and optimize inspection methods
Investigate and recommend new inspection technologies and methods
Assist in acquiring and implementing new inspection technologies in support of production volume increases
Ability to use micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers and various other hand tools proficiently
Strong background in compliance/adherence to process
Support day to day quality and production deliverables and initiatives
Adhere to 5-S principles
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
Required Qualifications/Experience
Experience/knowledge of MCOSMOS
Experience/knowledge of Measurement Study Analysis strategies
Experience/knowledge of RCCA Problem Solving
Experience/knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Associate Degree or equivalent experience with a thorough understanding of GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing)
