The Technology Platforms Division (TPD) drives the growth of Rakuten's ecosystem by delivering innovative, high-quality technology platforms characterized by integrated control and strategic partnerships.

Within TPD, the Cloud Platform Supervisory Department (CPSD) develops and manages Rakuten's state-of-the-art cloud platform, empowering global scalability and accelerating innovation across its diverse business units.

We empower application engineers to build reliable and scalable systems while ensuring unified support and consistent quality across all departments.

Position Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) Evangelist to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be the driving force behind the adoption, understanding, and effective utilization of our cloud capabilities across the organization. You will act as a bridge between our CCoE and the wider business, fostering a culture of cloud-native development, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Champion Cloud Adoption: Act as the primary advocate for the CCoE's vision, mission, and best practices. Promote the benefits of cloud adoption, cloud-native architectures, and modern development methodologies across all business units

- Educate and Empower: Develop and deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and training sessions for various audiences (developers, architects, product managers, leadership) on cloud technologies, CCoE guidelines, and new platform features

- Build Community: Foster a vibrant internal cloud community. Organize and facilitate internal meetups, brown bag sessions, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to connect cloud practitioners and encourage collaboration

- Gather Feedback & Drive Improvement: Actively solicit feedback from development teams and business stakeholders regarding cloud challenges, pain points, and opportunities. Translate this feedback into actionable insights for the CCoE to enhance services, tools, and documentation

- Develop & Disseminate Content: Create compelling and accessible content, including documentation, reference architectures, success stories, and blog posts, to guide and inform internal teams on cloud best practices

- Consult & Guide: Provide expert guidance and consultation to project teams on cloud solution design, architecture patterns, and CCoE-recommended tools and services

- Stay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously monitor industry trends, emerging cloud technologies, and CCoE best practices. Proactively identify opportunities to introduce new capabilities and improve existing ones

- Measure & Report: Track and report on the effectiveness of evangelism efforts and cloud adoption metrics

- Collaborate with CCoE Teams: Work closely with CCoE architects, engineers, and governance specialists to ensure alignment between evangelism efforts and CCoE objectives

             

Mandatory Qualifications:      

- 3+ years of experience in a technical role with a strong focus on cloud computing (e.g., Cloud Architect, Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, Technical Trainer)

- Proven experience as an evangelist, advocate, or technical trainer with a track record of successfully influencing and educating technical and non-technical audiences

- Deep expertise in at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) with a solid understanding of its core services (compute, storage, networking, databases, security, serverless). Multi-cloud experience is a plus

- Strong understanding of cloud-native principles including microservices, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), serverless computing, and CI/CD pipelines

- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to diverse audiences

- Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about cloud adoption challenges

- Self-starter with a proactive and results-oriented mindset

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience

Desired Qualifications:    

- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect) are highly desirable
