Job Summary

The Government Banking-Client Associate's primary function is to support assigned Government Banking Relationship Managers with retaining and enhancing existing public sector client relationships, growing new client-base, and increasing revenue for Flagstar. This includes involvement in the initial client contact to define needs, preparation of client proposals in response to the identified requirements, implementation of chosen accounts, products and services, monitoring of all on-going processes and daily personalized client service. Additionally, the Government Banking-Client Associate is responsible for the day to day servicing of the existing assigned client base including fielding questions, problem solving, and handling transactional requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In partnership with assigned Relationship Manager, provide implementation, training, and service support to Government Banking treasury management and investment clients in an effort to retain and enhance existing client relationships and to attract new opportunities.
  • Interact with clients on a daily basis via phone, email and in-person to handle client transactions and support problem resolution, identify overall banking needs and cross sell opportunities, and complete set up of accounts and services accordingly.
  • Coordinate and participate in client pre-implementation meetings from the award to full set-up of core banking services, accounts and investments.
  • Handle implementation process including paperwork preparation and review with client, account opening, input into system to initiate set up process, and monitor progression of set-up for completion.
  • Once services are implemented, verify and cross check internal bank systems to confirm proper set-up and additionally perform continuing review of accounts and services to ensure accurate processing without interruption.
  • On-going monitoring of treasury management services and billing, and providing continued support to clients as issues arise.
  • Provide customer orientation and training for initial set-up, on-going support for issues and system upgrades that occur.
  • Participate in sales process from initial contact to final preparation of client materials insuring process is completed expeditiously for client and Flagstar.
  • Assist Relationship Manager to analyze clients’ processes and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Organize and prepare responses for banking services Request for Proposals (RFP), informal proposals; and additionally, complete treasury management analysis comparisons and profitability model.
  • Attend RFP pre-bid and informal proposal meetings, client implementation and relationship review meeting, and public sector association meetings with the relationship managers when requested.
  • Run, review and analyze system generated reports to ensure compliance with client contracts and bank requirements, and provide appropriate tracking of sales and service requirements.
  • Manage, design and implement reporting templates for sales pipeline, billing review and call reporting.
  • Generate reports to assist with tracking of sales and other services to identify additional opportunities.
  • Generate and review monthly billing statements to confirm Treasury Management contract pricing is being assessed and charged accordingly.
  • Daily review of system reports for overdrafts and positive pay exceptions, and appropriate ACH activity and other transactions to ensure limits and guidelines are adhered.
  • Communicate results to Group Manager, Relationship Manager and Treasury Sales as needed.
  • Serve as back up for Operations Generalist and other Government Banking Sales Analysts as needed.
  • Handle daily transaction requirements of clients including initiation of new account implementation documents, opening of accounts, opening and renewal of maturing certificates of deposit, transfers between Flagstar accounts and initiation of wire transfers to other financial institutions.
  • Lead special projects as assigned.
  • Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions.
  • Analyzes and resolves problems.

ADDITIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

  • Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent.
  • Minimum experience required: 2+ years of experience working with clients and internal bank departments on a daily basisvia telephone, email, and face-to-face.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
  • Treasury Management Product knowledge.
  • Public Sector client experience, preferred.
  • Proficient in DNA, ACM and Salesforce, preferred.


Job Competencies:

  • General knowledge of treasury management products and processes including: understanding of treasury management product and service functionality, purpose or use of each service for the client, ability to identify “cross-sell” opportunities and to discuss available services with client, implementation processes required for set up, and the end result to the client when using the treasury management services (how services flow and interact together).
  • Experienced in client and internal bank department daily interactions via telephone, email, and face-to-face.
  • Working knowledge of back office operations in regard to how these interact with treasury management products and services.
  • Practiced in understanding and interpreting monthly account and analysis statements.
  • Ability to identify clients’ need for additional products, services, and follow-up to ensure continued enhancement of clients overall relationship with Flagstar.
  • Basic understanding of branch banking processes, consumer related accounts and services, business cash flows and account processes, and core banking requirements of business clients.
  • Strong project and process management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Robust verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Solid interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution and team building skills.
