Location: Based at Winslade Way with co-location across other services in the local area as required.
Working Hours: Full time (37 hours)
Please note: the post holder will be required to work one evening clinic (5:00pm – 7:00pm) on a rota basis.

Insight Lewisham provides free, confidential support to young people under the age of 25, offering guidance around substance use, sexual health and relationships, and support to families affected by these issues across the borough of Lewisham.
About the Role
The Children, Young People and Family Practitioner plays a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based substance misuse support to children, young people and families across Lewisham. Working within Insight Lewisham, the post holder will use a whole-family, trauma-informed approach to address the impact of drug and alcohol use on children, young people, parents, carers and families.
The role involves working across the full treatment pathway, from engagement and assessment through to intervention, recovery planning and ongoing support. You will deliver targeted and specialist interventions designed to reduce harm, build resilience, strengthen family relationships and improve long-term outcomes for children and young people.
The post holder will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and alongside education, health and community partners to support early identification of need and ensure children and families receive timely and appropriate support. Creativity, flexibility and a strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion are essential to successfully engage with young people and families whose needs may be complex.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted and specialist drug and alcohol interventions to children, young people and families affected by substance use, using a whole-family and trauma-informed approach.
Provide specialist substance misuse support to young people at risk of, or currently using, drugs and/or alcohol, supporting informed decision-making and resilience building.
Undertake assessments, engagement and collaborative recovery planning, providing effective case management across all stages of the treatment journey.
Deliver a range of evidence-based psychosocial interventions, including 1:1 sessions, group work and structured family interventions.
Lead and support the delivery of family-focused programmes, including parental programmes, Hidden Harm interventions and Family, Friends and Carers (FFC) support.
Work in partnership with education, health and community services to promote early identification, coordinated support and positive outcomes for children and families.
Maintain accurate, timely and high-quality records, contribute to service development, and work collaboratively with colleagues to support continuous improvement and safeguarding best practice.
To Succeed in This Role, you will need:
Essential
Experience of working with children, young people and families affected by substance use
Knowledge of drug and alcohol issues and their impact on families
Experience delivering psychosocial interventions, including 1:1 and group work
Understanding of whole-family and trauma-informed approaches
Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs
Strong communication, engagement and relationship-building skills
Desirable
Experience delivering family programmes, parental interventions or Hidden Harm work
Experience of partnership working with education or community services
Relevant qualification in health, social care, youth work or a related field
Please note: The salary listed reflects the full earning potential for this role. Starting salaries depend on experience and progression within the band.
