The EMEA Chief Risk Officer is responsible for ensuring the Risk Management framework for AIG’s subsidiaries operating in the EMEA region and maintaining them at a level that is appropriate for the nature, scale and complexity of its legal entity and producing operations for a business of GPW $5+ billion across more than 20 countries and multiple regulatory jurisdictions.

The EMEA Chief Risk Officer will be a part of the EMEA Senior Leadership Team and ERM International Leadership and may lead engagements as part of this team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate  Risk Management Key Function holders for EMEA legal entities, Cluster Risk Officers, and ERM Partners for EMEA regional LoBs  and functions.
  • Ensure the maintenance of risk management frameworks and governance systems aligned to AIG’s risk policies,  regulatory expectations, and Board and Management support in discharging their duties.
  • Enhance risk management frameworks proportional to the risks of the region’s clusters, lines of business, and legal entities.
  • Develop risk culture ensuring an balance between growth, profitability and risk.
  • Partner with other functions to foster a positive working relationship between teams and relevant regulators.
  • Support the legal entity AIG Europe’s (AESA) Risk Key Function role by:
    • Leading regulatory relationships related to ERM and Internal Model.
    • Ensuring operations at the standard expected of a Solvency II internal model.
    • Maintaining legal entity internal and external risk reporting.
    • Addressing actions and findings related to AIG Europe’s ERM department.
    • Support AESA’s Risk Officers with their regulatory rapport.
  • Correspond and partner across AIG International, as directed by CRO International, following the Centres of Correspondence model.
  • Coordinate with International and Global efforts, harmonize of risk management data and technology supporting risk reporting and control.
  • Liaise with ERM international to ensure and prioritised appropriate service delivery and from global risk functions and shared services teams provide.

Requirements

  • Strategic risk management - worked at a senior level of risk management and gained a detailed understanding of Solvency II and similar prudential regimes, Risk Assessment, Risk Reporting, Stress Testing etc and other major regulatory initiatives as they relate to general insurance
  • Extensive risk and industry experience and bachelor/undergraduate’s degree from college or university
  • Superior understanding of the balance sheet, P&L and liquidity of a PC insurer and the related risks drivers and concentrations.
  • Familiarity with complex and evolving risk concepts but focused on practical, cost effective, implementation.
  • Ability to manage and influence in a matrix structure and across a wide geography
  • Proven people management and leadership skills
  • Highly collaborative approach across functions and geographies.
  • Proven ability to educate non-technical managers on technical areas that enhance their decision-making ability.
  • Proven ability to interact with regulators.
  • French is desirable.
