CCL Social Media Assistant (Student Wage)

Charlottesville, VA Part time

This position will be responsible for helping the Center for Cultural Landscape take its social media strategy to the next level. We are looking to develop a social media presence beyond event promotion, brand identity, and occasional updates. The student in this position will develop the majority of the content across the Center’s three Meta profiles, showcasing our research data and finding synergy across the project accounts.

We encourage the applicant to consider themself a storyteller, and to think profoundly about how social media can be used to build a compelling narrative about investment in place and placekeeping.

Additionally, the student will play a key role in helping the team develop a strategy to use social media to cultivate a community of practice, bringing cultural heritage practitioners together and connecting them to additional resources. The student will report directly to the Center's Director and may be supervised on a project basis by the Associate Director, Project Manager, and/or Project Associate.

Activities include:

  • Working with Center staff to create and maintain a content schedule
  • Contributing to the development of campaigns around significant events and milestones
  • Writing concise, engaging captions
  • Communicating regularly with staff to determine content needs
  • Tracking engagement statistics and suggesting modifications to outreach strategy to improve engagement
  • Helping to create and edit short-form video content
  • Attending team meetings on a weekly basis

  • Graduate student in architectural history, media studies, architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, data science, or African American and African studies
  • Experience using Meta Business Suite
