Position Title: AOD Case Worker 
Location: Red Hill – Mooyah 
Classification: SCHADS Level 4 
Status: Full Time 

 

Why this role matters  

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

 

About the Role 

Provide intensive case management to participants requiring support with alcohol and other substance use, in alignment with The Salvation Army’s National AOD Model of Care. This includes using evidence-based approaches—both individually and in group settings—to help clients reduce substance use, minimise harms, build independence, and make informed choices that support sustained recovery. 

 

How You Will Make an Impact 

  • Build strong, supportive relationships with participants that empower them to develop independence and make informed decisions in their lives. 

  • Conduct person-centred, holistic screening and assessments for individuals experiencing AOD issues, including: 

  • Screening for co-occurring conditions and facilitating referrals to specialist services such as psychologists or mental health practitioners. 

  • Considering clients’ spiritual wellbeing in accordance with The Salvation Army’s AOD Spirituality Framework. 

  • Develop individual treatment plans in line with the frameworks and principles of the National AOD Model of Care. 

  • Work with participants to establish clear goals, document progress, and regularly review achievements to support ongoing motivation and recovery. 

  • Provide coordinated, holistic care through advocacy, collaboration, and effective liaison with external service providers to ensure improved outcomes for participants. 

 

What You Will Bring 

  • A relevant degree-level qualification (preferred) or a relevant diploma coupled with extensive experience in the sector. 

  • Experience working within an AOD recovery residential setting. 

  • A current Driver’s Licence (if required for access to tool-of-trade or pool vehicles).
