Position Overview:

The Capital Planning and Analytics team is seeking a confident, self-motivated, and analytical senior with strong financial analytical skills, project management, and communication skills.

The Capital Planning and Analytics Senior will be responsible for supporting the team in creating and analyzing capital related processes and results to communicate complex patterns to executives and business users. The role will partner extensively with colleagues across Finance, Business Functions, Risk, Regulatory Affairs as well as other functions and lines of businesses. Key duties include capital planning and forecasting, capital analytics, capital reporting automation, capital optimization and preparation of Freddie Mac’s yearly Capital Plan deliverable to FHFA, etc.

This role will report into the Capital Planning and Analytics Sr Manager.

Our Impact:

The Capital Planning and Analytics division is responsible for the planning, forecasting, and optimization of capital. The team focuses on the oversight of all capital management, capital planning and elements related to risk appetite and capital contingency, as well as strategic and policy initiatives. The team’s activities are focused on both business-as-usual and stress environments and ties closely with other areas within the Finance function including Financial Planning and Analysis and Stress Testing. Our team:

  • Oversees the capital forecasting process

  • Prepares Annual Capital Plan submission to FHFA

  • Collaborates with the divisional finance and business areas as well as division risk officers (DROs) in the implementation of the recently enacted Enterprise Capital Rule and coordinates associated regulatory submissions, in particular the yearly Capital Plan.

  • Drives the optimization of capital in partnership with other areas within Finance and the business areas to improve the systems and processes currently used to perform these activities.

  • Develops the strategies and tools to accurately measure and optimize capital capacity and ratios and related measures.

The Capital Planning Team reports to the VP of Capital Planning & Mgmt Reporting and this is an excellent opportunity to be part of a results-driven team that will implement Freddie Mac’s Capital Planning and Management Strategy.

Your Impact:

As Capital Planning and Analysis Senior you will:

  • Assist in preparation of the capital forecasts for all monthly, quarterly, annual and multi-year business planning cycles across a range of scenarios including Annual Business Plan, regulatory stress testing (DFAST), Capital Planning and Risk Appetite setting partnering with the business finance teams and in coordination with Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Risk, etc.  

  • Understand capital concepts and make enhancements to the structure and/or reports as needed; Assist in automation of capital reporting and forecasting in M+ and Hyperion

  • Assist in Capital related analytics and updates and prepare capital slides for key stakeholder sessions such as the Capital Management Council, Risk Committee, Board meetings, FHFA meetings, etc

  • Work on initiatives that will provide a unique opportunity to gain a broad understanding of many key business attributes related to capital planning, management, analytics, and forecasting

  • Collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information from internal and external sources with attention to detail

  • Construct detailed presentation decks and reports for various forecasting cycles and assist with project management of the Capital Plan, Capital Forecasting and Risk Appetite setting

  • Gather and analyze financial data to assist in developing strategies and methodology to optimize capital utilization

  • Demonstrate understanding of internal business segment (partners) and build capability to acquire relevant data and information efficiently for capital analysis

  • Collaborate with fellow team members and other participants within Capital Management team and others in the Finance organization as well as the Risk organization (second line)

  • Build and maintain reporting templates and documentation of methodologies and execution to support governance requirements

Qualifications:

  • Required 5-9 years of related experience in capital planning, forecasting and analytics in banking industry, financial servicing companies and consulting firms etc.

  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills and detailed oriented; Strong communication and critical thinking skills to engage with senior leadership

  • Ability to deliver positive changes in sophisticated organizations with a high-level engagement and time management

  • High proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, especially Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel required; Experience with SQL, VBA, Tableau, Hyperion SmartView, and/or Python preferred

  • Project Management experience strongly preferred

  • An undergraduate degree is required.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $108,000 - $162,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
