Job Summary
Responsible for acquiring materials. Responsible and has authority for documented procedures to ensure that purchased product conforms to specified requirements. Responsible and has authority for maintaining purchasing data and shall review and approve purchasing documents for adequacy of the specified requirements prior to release. Responsible and has authority for maintaining data relative to supplier performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
• Purchase material by preparing and submitting purchase orders following review of system generated requirements.
• Identifies product substitutions and alternative sources.
• Follows up on orders and performs product expediting (PO's/SO's).
• Coordinates with purchasing and warehouse personnel on product flow through to shop floor.
• Assists in the training of department support personnel.
• Coordinates Purchasing activities with Sales and Customer Service to meet established inventory objectives (inventory turns, inventory levels).
• Analyzes data to identify trends to achieve inventory and on-time delivery goals.
• Communicates with suppliers regarding cost, lead time, and promise date relative to the purchasing process.
• Resolves receiving discrepancies.
• Assists in the coordination of supplier returns and identification of obsolete product.
