Sarasota County’s Communications Department is looking for a Broadcast and Multimedia Supervisor to lead our Access Sarasota broadcast and multimedia operations. In this role, you’ll oversee video production, broadcast technology, and multimedia content that supports county communications, public meetings, and community programming.This position provides both leadership and hands-on technical oversight, managing broadcast systems, production workflows, and a talented multimedia team to ensure high-quality content across video, streaming, and digital platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for...
Leadership and Program Management:
Partner with the Creative Services Manager and supervisors to align team priorities, workloads, and production schedules with county communication goals.
Lead the Access Sarasota team, ensuring efficient operations and the timely delivery of high-quality broadcast, multimedia, and meeting support services.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and production deliverables while developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for production workflows.
Coordinate staff training and recommend innovative, cost-effective technologies and equipment to improve services and operational efficiency.
Broadcast Operations and Technical Oversight:
Oversee broadcast production equipment and systems used for studio productions, field work, and public meeting broadcasts.
Serve as the subject matter expert for broadcast and audiovisual technologies, providing technical guidance and resolving complex equipment or system issues.
Manage the inventory, procurement, maintenance, and lifecycle planning of broadcast and audiovisual equipment, including recommending upgrades and improvements.
Ensure reliable operation of audio, lighting, projection, and streaming systems supporting commission chambers, control rooms, and other production locations.
Multimedia Production and Content Development:
Lead the development and production of multimedia content (including video programming, meeting broadcasts, digital media, and photography) to highlight county initiatives and services.
Guide creative concepts, scripts, storyboards, sets, locations, and production plans to ensure accuracy, clarity, and strong production quality.
Collaborate with county departments and communications teams to create engaging content that supports organizational goals and informs the public.
Oversee visual storytelling elements, such as graphics, motion design, and animation, while ensuring all content aligns with Sarasota County’s brand and communication standards.
Work Hours:
Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Monday - Friday, 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
This position is required to serve On-Call. As a result, the schedule will vary based on after-hours and weekend meetings, events, community needs, and/or emergencies.
As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.
To be considered for this role, you must have the following:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Videography, Video Production, Mass Communication, or a related field.
OR: 2+ years Associate's degree may be required with 2+ years of experience.
A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience is required (lead worker or acting in a supervisory capacity may be counted).
Valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
The ideal candidate has the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

5+ years of experience managing government or public access television operations, including broadcasting public meetings.
Experience overseeing broadcast or audiovisual production environments, including control room operations, studio and field production, and live event broadcasting.
Supervisory or team leadership experience in a broadcast, production, or multimedia setting.
Strong knowledge of modern broadcast systems, including IP-based video routing, encoding, streaming platforms, and network-based signal distribution.
Advanced experience with video production and engineering, including pre- and post-production, lighting, audio-visual equipment operation, troubleshooting, and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Demands: Employees in this role must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Employees can use handling devices (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessive poundage of 50-plus pounds.
Starting Pay Range: Up to $75,000.00, based on experience.
