Cox Enterprises is currently seeking a Benefits Manager to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Role:
The Benefits Manager will partner on the design and strategy and lead the administration of Cox’s medical, dental, and voluntary benefits programs, ensuring alignment with company objectives. This role is responsible for vendor management, legal and regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement through data analysis and market insights. The Benefits Manager will also serve as a trusted advisor, providing expert consultation and clear communication to leadership and employees across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Lead the operational execution, strategy, and administration of Cox’s medical, dental, and voluntary benefits programs for active employees, LTD participants, and retiree populations, ensuring alignment with company objectives and employee needs.
Partner with external vendors on day-to-day benefits operations, including issue escalation and resolution, while providing input into vendor negotiations based on performance and identifying opportunities to optimize vendor relationships.
Address and resolve complex claims and escalated benefits issues by collaborating with internal partners, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution.
Oversee benefits marketing and communications to employees and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and effective utilization of benefits offerings.
Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations (e.g., COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, ERISA), including maintaining plan documents, managing audits and required filings, responding to legal inquiries, and adapting to regulatory changes.
Benchmark benefit plans against peer organizations, monitor industry trends, and gather employee feedback to ensure alignment with Cox’s rewards philosophy and values.
Develop and deliver comprehensive benefits presentations and education sessions for employees at all levels of the organization.
Partner cross‑functionally on the analysis, planning, and communication of benefits integration related to acquisitions and divestitures.
Serve as a key stakeholder on benefit-related initiatives and system enhancements, including Open Enrollment, ACA compliance, and Workday updates.
Analyze internal and external data to develop actionable recommendations for optimizing benefits offerings and program effectiveness.
Monitor market trends and emerging industry practices to identify opportunities for new benefits and program enhancements.
Track plan performance and funding, identify cost‑containment opportunities, and implement strategies to support the long‑term financial sustainability of benefits programs.
Provide expert consultation and strategic guidance to organizational leadership on core benefits matters to support informed decision‑making.
Lead the execution and ongoing management of enterprise‑wide core benefits programs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources management, or a related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years’ experience in a related field.
Hands‑on experience administering benefits plans and/or compensation programs.
Experience using HRIS platforms (Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) to administer benefits, with a strong preference for Workday.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated project management experience with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Strong data analysis and problem‑solving skills with the ability to synthesize information and drive informed recommendations.
Strong customer service orientation with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with a proven track record of navigating complex issues and delivering solutions.
Strategic mindset with strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
In‑depth knowledge of state and federal benefits regulations, including COBRA, HIPAA, ACA, and ERISA.
