Compensation
Hourly base pay rate is $16.59 - $24.86/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
The Battery Recycling Technician plays a vital role in the sustainable management of electric (EV) batteries, ensuring that hazardous materials are safely handled and valuable components are recovered for reuse. Battery Recycling Technicians may be trained to work at all stations within the recycling room. This position is performed in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse with dust consistently in the air. A Tyvek suit and PAPR (respirator) are required to prevent dust contamination/inhalation and is assigned upon medical evaluation and fit test completion.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all safety and health protocols as directed by management and the EHS team, consistently modeling safety excellence.
- Identify, sort, and safely disassemble various battery types to recover valuable materials.
- Perform precision cuts on batteries using a bandsaw/skill saw prior to shredding.
- Operate recycling machinery including shredders, crushers, and sorting systems to extract black mass.
- Load batteries into shredders, sort shredded output, and manage removal of processed materials.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
- Follow all production Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain process integrity.
- Meet production output outlined by management.
- May perform logistics duties such as: create and maintain shipping paperwork including printing labels and updating spreadsheets, navigate and understand the Alfred CMMS portal; adhere to shipping safety protocols, organize and maintain shipping inventory; use forklift to stage and load trucks; coordinate with Battery Service Center to organize and schedule shipments, and maintain a clean working area.

Qualifications:
Minimum
- High School Diploma/GED and up to 2 years’ experience in a related field.
- Requires strong knowledge of using basic hand and power tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills as well as collaborative communication skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization.
- Basic computer skills to input data into a database.
- Ability to pass required medical evaluation and fit test for PAPR (respirator).
Preferred
- Degree or certification in related discipline
- Experience working in an industrial environment adhering to strict safety, OSHA, and/or EPA regulations.
