Job Description

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Balance Sheet & Liquidity Risk Analyst/Manager to join our Risk Management team at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). The successful candidate will oversee liquidity risk frameworks, analyze liquidity impacts on trading and banking products, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for professionals with 2+ years of experience in risk management, treasury, or related fields who are passionate about safeguarding the bank’s liquidity position.

Standard working hours are from 9am to 6pm (MYT). Occasional night or early morning calls may be required to coordinate with stakeholders in Europe and North America regions.  

What will you do?

  • Monitor and analyse liquidity risk metrics (e.g., LCR, NSFR, cash flow projections) to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards
  • Assess the liquidity impact of trading and banking products (e.g., loans, deposits, derivatives) on the bank’s short-term and long-term funding needs.
  • Provide oversight to behavioural analysis of liquidity drivers, including customer withdrawal patterns, stress testing and scenarios analysis, and funding market dynamics.
  • Collaborate with Treasury, Finance, and Front Office teams to develop and implement liquidity risk mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and regulators on liquidity risk exposure and remediation plans.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in liquidity risk management.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience: 2+ years in liquidity risk management, treasury, credit risk, or financial analysis within a banking or financial services environment.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of liquidity ratios (LCR, NSFR), cash flow management, and risk modeling techniques.
  • Product Knowledge: Familiarity with banking and trading products (e.g., deposits, loans, securities, derivatives) and their liquidity implications.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex data, perform scenario analysis, and draw actionable insights. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Basic SQL & Python, Tableau preferred.
  • Regulatory Awareness: Knowledge of BASEL, and other relevant liquidity risk regulations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA) are an asset.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
