About the role

MSS Security is seeking a Casual Aviation Protection Officer to join our team at Ballina Airport. As an Aviation Protection Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff and airport operations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Conduct security screening for passengers, staff and visitors.
• Operate security technology and systems, including metal detectors, to identify potential risks or prohibited items.
• Perform scans when required for passengers, staff and visitors to ensure no prohibited items are being carried.
• Conduct Explosive Trace Detection tests.
• Operate X-ray machines to screen luggage for dangerous goods, prohibited items, or weapons.
• Perform thorough bag searches when necessary to ensure compliance with aviation security regulations.
• Monitor and patrol airport premises to identify and report any security threats or breaches.

Requirements:

• Full Australian working rights.
• Ability to undergo and pass a national security police check.
• Ability to undergo and pass a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing).
• Strong customer service skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
• Proficient in basic computer skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 12 hours.
• 24/7 availability required.
