The Automation Technician supports safe and efficient food manufacturing operations by maintaining and troubleshooting automated production and packaging systems. This role focuses on PLC‑based controls, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement in a regulated, sanitary environment.
Troubleshoot and maintain automated food processing and high‑speed packaging equipment (extruders, dryers, conveying, baggers, cartoners, palletizers)
Support PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and electrical control systems
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime
Partner with operations to resolve equipment issues while supporting food safety and sanitation requirements
Train operators on equipment operation and basic automation concepts
Maintain PLC/HMI backups, schematics, and equipment documentation
Support equipment upgrades, startups, and capital projects
Associate degree in Electrical, Automation, Controls, or equivalent experience
3+ years of automation, controls, or industrial electrical experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics
Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs and VFDs preferred
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to safely perform job duties, follow work instructions, read technical documentation, and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended shifts in a manufacturing environment
Lift up to 50 lbs
Work at heights 35+ feet
Stand, climb, bend, and work in hot, cold, or dusty environments
