As an Automation Engineer in Pharma Technical Development Synthetic Molecules (PTDC), you will be the industrial automation and digitalization lead, driving the integration of state-of-the-art technologies from the lab to the plant. You will be at the forefront of defining and implementing an innovative automation concept, to ensure standardized and automatic data transfer, significantly boosting productivity and operational efficiency across the technical development lifecycle.
Lead Digital Transformation: Take the lead in digitalization and industrial automation within PTDC, driving a strong, digitally-embedded way of working and implementing state-of-the-art technologies.
Integrate Lab-to-Plant Concept: Strategically integrate the automation and digitalization platform to create seamless, efficient workflows between laboratory environments and manufacturing plants.
Define Industrial Automation Strategy: Play a crucial role in strategically aligning and defining a comprehensive automation concept to enable automatic and standardized data extraction from equipment (e.g. laboratory and production equipment) and transfer across systems.
Process Automation & Workflow Optimization: Lead initiatives to automate manufacturing and/or laboratory processes, optimize workflows, and secure the long-term digital resilience of our operational systems.
Drive Paperless Transition: Spearhead the transition towards a fully paperless way of working in close collaboration with Data Scientists and Real-Time Monitoring (RTM) experts.
PTDC Automation Champion: Serve as the PTDC champion for industrial automation, supporting the successful introduction of new functionalities (e.g., new modules, continuous manufacturing (conti skids)) into our facilities and labs.
Adapt and Improve: Continuously support the manufacturing and lab units by adapting and improving automation systems to meet evolving operational needs and technological advancements.
Enhance Collaboration & Productivity: Optimize key operational systems to enhance cross-functional productivity and collaboration throughout the development and manufacturing process.
You are a seasoned Automation Engineer with a robust background in the pharmaceutical industry and a passion for leading complex digital transformation projects from concept to execution.
Education and Experience: You possess a PhD or Master's degree in Industrial Automation Engineering or a related field, along with at least 5-10 years of experience in automation within the pharmaceutical industry.
Digital Transformation Expertise: Proven experience in digital transformation, systems optimization, and project management, with an advanced understanding of automation and data flow optimization.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with drug substance technical development and quality controls laboratory processes, advanced lab automation and strong working knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) information systems.
Integrated Systems Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in transitioning organizations towards fully integrated digital systems automation and ensuring data integrity.
Leadership and Collaboration: Proven track record of leading cross-functional and complex projects focused on enhancing operational efficiency and collaboration.
Strategic Vision: Strong strategic thinking abilities to visualize and align complex digital ecosystems, ensuring cohesive integration and seamless collaboration.
Communication: Excellent communication and partnering skills are required, with proficiency in German and English (other languages are a plus).
