BlackRock is currently seeking professionals at the Associate level to become part of our Portfolio Compliance team.

Team Overview

The Portfolio Compliance Group (PCG) is a global team within the Business Operations department at BlackRock where we are responsible for implementing controls and processes to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and portfolio guidelines. The team fulfills this mission primarily by extracting, analyzing, coding and monitoring client, regulatory and internal investment guidelines on the firm’s Aladdin system. Our team also handles reviewing new issues and voluntary corporate action events to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and client specific guidelines. We are engaged with and provide innovative services to many other departments and functions across the firm, including: portfolio management, client services, trading, technology, operations and legal.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities are dynamic, but typically include:

  • Pre-clearing syndicated primary market purchases to ensure that BlackRock affiliate and Client affiliate involvements are aligned with applicable exemptions/guidelines.

  • Finalizing prospectus document reviews and retrievals. Liaising with Global Capital Markets, Legal and Compliance and Portfolio Management to clarify any missing queries with primary market reviews.

  • Pre-trade and Post-trade violation investigation & resolution

  • Manual test execution

  • Identification of coding issues

  • Becoming acquainted with BlackRock’s various Aladdin applications, trade flow process, and data environment

  • Crafting new system rules, improving existing compliance coding, and investigating or troubleshooting potential errors when needed

  • Participating in efficiency and improvement initiatives by providing ideas and suggestions on possible improvements to systems or processes

  • Leading or handling strategic projects and initiatives

Knowledge / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or similar fields are preferred.

  • Experience supporting trade compliance activities, including primary market pre‑clearance, prospectus review, and investigation of pre‑ and post‑trade issues.

  • Strong systems aptitude with hands‑on exposure to compliance testing, rule execution, issue identification, and trade‑flow/data analysis.

  • Analytical, detail‑oriented mindset with the ability to partner cross‑functionally and contribute to process, control, and efficiency initiatives.

  • Knowledge of financial instruments and markets is helpful.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of programming languages (such as Visual Basic, C++, or Java) preferred not required

  • Understanding of relational database concepts (including SQL) are beneficial.

For Princeton, NJ Only the salary range for this position is USD$90,000.00 - USD$120,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
