Job Summary

KBR is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team and reside at our Las Cruces, NM office. Under direct supervision, the selected candidate will support projects around ground-based mobile satellite communication systems, antenna manufacturing, and radio frequency engineering. The Associate Mechanical Engineer will assist in researching, developing, planning, designing, and integrating mechanical products and systems. The engineer will apply principles and techniques to support the completion of projects, participate in solving engineering problems in all phases of design, development, integration/implementation, testing and analysis.

Roles and Responsibilities

· Support research, design, modify, develop and evaluate systems, products, components, and applications by applying fundamental mechanical engineering principles.

· Understand basic principles for evaluating stress, strain, thermal management, mechanics of materials, and other subjects from undergraduate academics.

· Validate equipment performance, quality, and capabilities by developing testing methods, performing tests, and documenting test results.

· Conduct and evaluate final system performance through execution of test procedures and data analysis.

· Through mentorship and support, will lead projects to completion by developing schedules to ensure technical performance is met and within cost.

· May perform site surveys and field installations under the supervision of a senior engineer.

· Communicate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, manufacturing personnel, management, vendors, customers, and subcontractors.

· Prepare engineering documentation, i.e., drawings, project specifications, procedures, test data and results.

· Abide by company policies, procedures, and AS9100 quality policy.

· Must hold a valid driver’s license and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Basic Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.

· 0-2 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering.

· Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

· Basic experience using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software.

· Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.

· Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team.

· Experience working with hand tools to build, assemble, or integrate hardware.

· Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principles.
