As the Technical Lead of MRB Design, US Defence Ops, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of design engineers to deliver engineering solutions to manufactured and procured non-conforming product to ensure delivery of safe, quality, functional parts to production assembly and aftermarket for all of US Defence Programs (T56, Helicopters, US Naval, LiftSystem, AE Engines, etc.).

What you will be doing:

With this attractive opportunity you will work with Technical Leads of relevant US Defence programs and ET&S Capability Leads to resource the MRB function to enable the Defence divisional business requirements to be met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a large engineering team comprised of design leaders and engineers with variety of skills sets and product knowledge to effectively and efficiently execute concession processes to deliver parts that meet product design and airworthiness requirements, in accordance with the company quality management system
  • Ensure proper communications with key stakeholders within US Defence Operations, US Defence Programs, and Global Procurement/Supply Chain organization to deliver MRB solutions consistent with Defence divisional priorities
  • Manage workload, prioritization, resource allocation, and budget allocated by various US Defence Programs, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure work is performed to the appropriate technical standards/processes and required time frames
  • Ensure MRB design engineering load and capacity are consistent with combined programs budgets
  • Develop and execute outsourced work packages as required to resource the business
  • Act as the Capability Lead for MRB and associated processes and standards, ensuring executive systems reflect best in class and are compliant with company and industry quality management standards, including any cyber security requirements
  • Ensure knowledge capture, lessons learnt, and best practice guides for the MRB group, and encourage knowledge sharing within the group and beyond, including globally
  • Where appropriate, own the relationship between engineering and the supply chain representatives to ensure effective/efficient MRB solutions
  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, coaching and mentoring to assigned engineers to enable them to be their best
  • Hire and ensure effective performance management of assigned Engineers by setting/agreeing appropriate and relevant objectives, performing evaluations and appraisals (e.g. PDRs), and participating in the distribution of merit increases and bonus awards
  • Work with the global ET&S Capability Leads to identify training, skills gaps or competency needs with the team and provide skills development opportunities
  • Develop, deliver, and demonstrate MRB delivery performance metrics, and be a champion for continuous improvement
  • Represent the Chief Engineer (as required) to internal stakeholders in Defence.

Basic Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in design, manufacturing and/or quality or
  • Master’s degree and 3+ years of experience within design, manufacturing and/or quality
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident to be eligible for consideration

Preferred Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 10+ years of experience in design, manufacturing and/or quality or
  • Master’s degree in engineering and 7+ years of experience within design, manufacturing and/or quality, or
  • JD/PhD in Engineering with 5+ years experience in design, manufacturing and/or quality
  • Product design, manufacturing, and quality assurance experience and knowledge of US Defence product lines, regulatory framework and customers
  • Experience with the non-conforming material process and dispositioning of non-conforming product, including associated quality management system understanding
  • Breadth of gas turbine engineering experience across engineering functions:  design, performance, manufacturing, test, certification/qualification, maintenance & overhaul, repair, field service, etc.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound technical and business judgement.
  • Experience in building/managing/leading/coaching people and teams to successful outcomes and customer satisfaction
  • Experience in developing and managing outsourced work package performance
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others, internal and external stakeholders, through effective and positive engagement and communication on technical and business issues and managing expectations
  • Passion for business performance improvement and building high performance teams
