You will be responsible for major revenue growth within the Financial Institutions segment in China. As part of the fast growing Global Insight APAC organization you will be empowered to support customers on a broad variety of challenges, and build high value relationships across existing and new logo clients.

The Business Line – Global Insight

Global Insight consists of a world class portfolio of solutions that help our customers & partners address many of the core global, regional and local challenges that the dynamic geo-political & economic environment poses. We address challenges around global economy, global trade, supply chain, maritime defence, trade finance sanctions & anti-money laundering, and multiple other critical components across our key customers in Government, Financials (both buy and sell side), Corporates & Transportation. 

Role Summary

  • Reporting to Head of Greater China Sales, GI, this role will drive new business sales into the Financial Institutions sector within mainland China and Hong Kong
  • The portfolio within your remit will include Macro Economic Forecasting (including PMI), Risk Modelling, Trade Finance Business Intelligence & Compliance Solutions, Global Supply Chain Insights, Pricing & Procurement Solutions, Maritime Solutions and more.
  • The products include the provision of Data, Analytics, Insight & Consulting to best support around customer workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads complex negotiations of commercial and contractual deals for new sales opportunities to meet and exceed sales objectives.
  • Ensures that team is aware of product/market trends and responds to client/market demands with relevant products and services to drive revenue.
  • Partner account management teams on overall sales revenue and retention and role model right behaviours
  • Creates individual sales plan with tactical action steps to execute that plan to meet and exceed sales goals.
  • Creates and nurtures high level strategic relationships and promotes S&P Global thought leadership to clients.  Aligns sales strategy with that of S&P Global's client base. 
  • Anticipates and responds to customer needs; assesses requirements and identifies solutions by modifying practices and procedures and business plan
  • Accountable for achieving personal sales quota.

  • Provides specialist advice to middle and senior management to resolve complex issues.
  • Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts and strategies.
  • Leads significant projects, programs and business initiatives using demonstrated creativity and ingenuity.
  • Generally free to determine work priorities based on general direction from People Leaders.

  • Develops strong relationships with key internal and external customers to identify future needs.
  • Effectively communicates difficult and complex concepts by altering communication style to the audience. 
  • Gathers analyses and presents complex and/or sensitive information for discussion with more senior levels of management. 
  • Persuades others to adopt a point of view for ideas/initiatives.

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree, preferably in economics, business, or equivalent industry related experience
  • 8-10 years experience in sales roles, experience with financials clients and/or data sales will be considered favourably
  • Proven track record as an exceptional new business developer
  • Proven ability of client prospecting and closing large value sales across multiple stakeholders at various seniority levels
  • Fluency in English/Chinese – written and spoken at a business level.
  • World class communication skills to include writing, interpersonal and listening as well as presentation skills gained with large and small audiences
  • High diligence at sale forecasting, planning and executing, utilizing well known CRM/SFDC applications
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office to include expertise on Excel, fluency with Word and well practiced in PowerPoint.
