Associate Director, Lead Quality Assurance

What is the Opportunity?

RBC Capital Markets BCST is looking for experienced Lead QA to establish and oversee comprehensive testing strategies across multiple test phases. You will lead a QA team, architect testing frameworks, and drive both manual and automated testing initiatives to ensure product quality at every stage of delivery.

What will you do?

  • Leads in the implementation, control, and distribution of all Quality Assurance practices, standards, methodologies and metrics. Applies extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and practices to perform complex assignments.

  • Supporting Quality Assurance team on Payments programs or SWIFT projects. Conducting program reviews and complex process audits; assisting in major audits/reviews of programs and subcontractors.

  • Evaluating and reviewing products and processes; providing status reporting to Quality Assurance and site management. Involving senior management to resolve deficiencies or compliance issues in a timely manner as needed.

  • Monitoring adherence to quality standards in the development and implementation of production applications. Monitoring the effectiveness of the assurance process.

  • Assisting in planning and estimation of Quality Assurance support for new programs and projects. Helping to establish quality standards to be universally applied throughout the site; recommending quality improvements.

  • Manage and mentor QA team members, establishing performance metrics and career development paths

  • Define overall testing strategies aligned with product roadmaps and release cycles

  • Design comprehensive test packs covering functional, regression, integration, and acceptance testing requirements

  • Establish regression testing protocols and maintain evolving regression test suites

  • Design SIT scenarios validating end-to-end workflows and coordinate UAT activities with business stakeholders

  • Develop and implement test automation strategy, selecting tools and building maintainable automated test suites

  • Establish quality KPIs including defect escape rates, test coverage, and automation ROI

  • Generate regular quality reports and dashboards highlighting trends, risks, and recommendations

  • Communicate testing status, risks, and blockers to development, product, and business teams

  • Participate in requirements reviews to identify testability issues early

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 7+ years’ experience as a QA Lead / QA Manager or in a similar role

  • Experience with testing across SWIFT ISO 20022 MX messages, and 15022 MT standard messages

  • Experience managing a QA team to deliver high-quality work by deadlines

  • Experience using automation test tools and writing test scripts in Shell, Python, or Java

  • Working experience on tools control-m, GitHub, JIRA, and Confluence

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience and/or understanding of payment products from financial institutions
