Code for America is looking for a talented Associate Director of Financial Analysis who will serve Code for America by working with the Philanthropy Team and the Strategic Partnerships Team to develop more sophisticated models of historical and future revenue and expense streams, ensuring that the requirements of funders, contracting agencies, and other stakeholders are met.
About the role:
The Associate Director of Financial Analysis helps lead the financial planning, reporting, and analysis processes. This position will significantly contribute to building financial models and trend analyses for annual and mid-year planning and on-going reforecasts and be responsible for modeling, creating reports, and handling special projects and requests.
This role will report to the Director, Finance and is expected to travel no more than 5% of the time.
Code for America is based in California and can employ those who reside full-time within the United States. This is a remote position.
In this position you will:
Budgeting (20%)
- Support planning and reporting processes, including forecasts, annual budgets, and multi-year planning
- Help maintain CfA’s financial planning and analysis solution
- Improve budget and accounting processes, including creating a culture of financial literacy
Analysis and Reporting (35%)
- Provide analysis, insight and support for recommendations to leadership groups to drive strategic objectives and meet key financial and operational business goals
- Support financial reporting in conjunction with funder and stakeholder requirements
- Prepare government grant invoices and drawdowns
- Help with tracking funds spent and forecasting future spend against foundation grants, including helping to prepare required reports related to these activities
- Own the nonprofit fund accounting process
- Maintain the data models in CfA’s financial planning and analysis solution and track budget to actuals
Financial Oversight (25%)
- Provide oversight for the the monthly close process and perform key functions, including American Express report approvals in Concur, data cleaning, revenue entry, and providing other backup, as necessary
Management (20%)
- Provide supervision and support to direct reports (currently the Financial Analyst and the Senior Financial Analyst) that ensure their professional growth
- Navigate interpersonal and cross-functional conflict directly to ensure relationships and work can successfully move forward

- 5+ years of accounting and financial planning experience
- Superlative Excel skills and hands-on experience with analysis and modeling
- Experience with Sage Intacct
- Nonprofit finance experience
- Limelight, Adaptive Planning, or equivalent financial planning and analysis solution experience
- Ability to influence and manage the expectations at various levels of the organization
- Forward thinking mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects and identify and resolve issues
- Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional team members

Salary:
Code for America’s salary bands are transparent as a part of our commitment to transparency and fairness. As part of our hiring practices, we aim to target the midpoint of the 2nd quartile of the range for all new hires.
Offer targets vary based on market / geographic location. The offer targets for this role range from $108,503 to $132,825 annually.

- Full-time employees work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
- Collaborative working hours: we aim to hold all internal meetings between 10 AM - 3 PM PT. We expect all Code for America staff to be available during these set working hours
- Time Off:
- Open personal time off (subject to manager approval), a minimum of 14 paid holidays, and an org-wide closure from Christmas Day through New Year's Day
- Paid sick time; up to 96 hours annually
- 17 weeks of paid parental and family leave
- 3 weeks of paid sabbatical after 5 years of service
