This position is responsible for leading the communications for the largest site for Lilly India i.e. Lilly Bengaluru communications team along with leading Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) charter for all three sites in Lilly India. This role will focus more on internal communications for the site with responsibilities to lead CSR across India.
While the role reports to Corporate Affairs leader, the role incumbent is required to collaborate closely with local site leaders from communications perspective and with overall One India leaders to drive CSR initiatives across India.
This role has people manager responsiblility for Lilly Bengaluru communications team (1-2 nos)
Internal Communications
Develop and execute a multi-channel internal communications strategy — spanning executive communications, employee engagement, employer branding, and social media — to effectively shape and amplify Lilly Bengaluru’s narrative in partnership with stakeholders and agency partners.
Own end-to-end communication channels to ensure consistent, accurate messaging that aligns with company goals and reinforces a positive, values-driven culture.
Drive employee engagement and culture-building through targeted communication programs in collaboration with ERGs, promoting inclusion and connection across the site.
Lead the communications workstream for change management, evaluating and recommending innovative strategies for digital channels and stakeholder engagement to protect and strengthen Lilly’s reputation.
Lead Corporate Social Responsibility for One India
Architect and own the One India CSR strategy — developing a cohesive, multi-year roadmap that integrates Lilly’s global ESG priorities with India-specific regulatory requirements and community needs, ensuring alignment across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Gurugram sites into a unified, purposeful One India narrative.
Consolidate and rationalize the CSR portfolio — conducting a structured review of existing initiatives, partnerships, and spends to identify overlaps, gaps, and opportunities for greater synergy; channelizing efforts towards a focused set of high-impact themes to create sustained and measurable societal value.
Build and govern a robust program management infrastructure — establishing clear governance frameworks, milestone tracking, partner accountability mechanisms, and cross-functional coordination processes to ensure seamless execution of all CSR initiatives across planning, logistics, content, and stakeholder engagement touchpoints.
Drive high-impact CSR storytelling and visibility — designing multi-channel communication campaigns that authentically amplify partner initiatives and community outcomes, building Lilly’s employer brand and social license to operate across India.
Ensure regulatory compliance and institutional accountability — overseeing adherence to India’s CSR regulatory framework including mandatory disclosures, impact assessments, utilization certificates, and Board-level reporting, while maintaining ongoing audit readiness and strengthening corporate governance standards.
Create long-term community impact through strategic partnerships —build deep, outcome-oriented relationships with implementation partners, NGOs, and government bodies that compound impact over time and position Lilly as a trusted corporate citizen in India.
Crisis & Issues Management
Proactively manage and lead communications for significant incidents (pandemics, natural disasters) to ensure timely and relevant delivery of information to all employees.
Enhance crisis management capabilities within the team, build healthy processes and governance to foresee and handle them skillfully.
Stakeholder Management & Strategic Partnerships
Act as a trusted communications advisor to senior leadership to develop communications plans with supporting storylines.
Build network and collaboration with regional corporate communicators to share best practices and lessons learned.
Partner with leadership team to ensure communication objectives and initiatives are fully aligned to the country’s strategic objectives and support an enterprise focus and delivery of the Lilly India corporate narrative/voice.
Governance & Compliance
Develop and maintain processes and governance mechanisms to ensure compliance while enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external communications efforts.
Ensure internal communications comply with quality standards as well as legal, regulatory and other privacy compliance policies/procedures.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
Master’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, or related discipline.
Minimum 10+ years of relevant professional experience in high-profile corporate communications, employee communications, and public relations roles.
Proven track record of working with senior executives and creating and implementing successful corporate communication strategies and programs.
Experience leading in a regulated and compliant industry. Solid understanding of the healthcare / pharmaceutical industry (desirable).
Experience working in a global organization and within a matrixed structure.
Must be comfortable with change and ambiguity.
Proficiency in digital communications and social media skills; ability to leverage analytics to measure and optimize communications impact.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and within deadlines.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels.
Domestic travel required. This role will require frequent travel to Gurugram and Hyderabad site.
