Overview of the Department/Section
Japanese Corporate Banking Division (London) is a front office function responsible for business development of customers located in United Kingdom other demarcated countries in EMEA of which their ultimate parents are Japanese Corporates.
Business Support Department is accountable for supporting customers’ transaction execution with the Bank and responsible for managing operational risks and for compliance of policies, regulations and relevant requirements within 1LoD.
Customer Consulting Team supports matters relating to customers’ account maintenance, on-boarding and off-boarding, day-to-day queries by supporting and collaborating with Relationship Managers.

What you'll do:
In the capacity of Associate – Business Support within MUFG’s Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA in London, you will assume a pivotal role in facilitating the smooth operation of services for leading Japanese corporates across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Your remit will encompass delivering responsive assistance as the primary point of contact for client queries while managing intricate administrative functions fundamental to account oversight and transaction facilitation. You will engage collaboratively with Relationship Managers as well as colleagues from various departments worldwide—drawing upon your knowledge of banking systems and regulatory frameworks—to devise solutions tailored to client requirements. Your analytical acumen will be essential in interpreting multifaceted data sets to provide actionable insights for both clients and internal stakeholders. By upholding stringent compliance protocols and refining procedures in accordance with evolving regulations, you will play a direct role in safeguarding operational integrity. * Respond promptly and accurately to client enquiries as the initial point of contact, ensuring consistently high standards of service whilst cultivating enduring client relationships.
* Administer a broad spectrum of administrative duties related to account management and transaction execution, adhering meticulously to internal policies and procedures for seamless operations.
* Collaborate with colleagues across multiple international locations to resolve client-related matters efficiently, escalating issues appropriately to Relationship Managers or senior management when required.
* Establish and maintain peer networks throughout MUFG by gathering pertinent information and fostering effective inter-office cooperation.
* Remain conversant with MUFG systems, procedures, manuals, and products—including general banking services, credit facilities, deposits, loans, and foreign exchange—to respond effectively to both client and internal queries.
* Review and update team procedures regularly in alignment with regulations, global standards, policy requirements, and industry best practices in partnership with Compliance & Legal teams.
* Verify and facilitate the collection of essential client documentation such as mandates, agreements, and indemnities for processing by other divisions including Planning, KYC, Operations, and Transaction Banking.
* Conduct thorough analysis using diverse data sources—including client intelligence—to generate valuable market insights that inform decision-making processes.
* Analyse incidents affecting clients by participating in post-incident discussions (PDs) and communicating outcomes clearly and promptly to relevant parties.
* Provide guidance on bank processes related to account maintenance for stakeholders and junior staff members whilst overseeing their work as necessary.
What you bring:
* Demonstrable experience in a client-facing capacity within corporate banking or financial services where collaborative effort was paramount.
* Proficiency in both written and spoken Business Japanese alongside fluent English communication skills enabling effective engagement with clients and colleagues alike.
* Advanced competence in Microsoft Office applications—particularly Excel and Word—for efficient management of data-driven tasks.
* A degree-level education or equivalent relevant industry experience providing a robust foundation for comprehending complex banking operations.
* Capacity to manage multiple priorities under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and quality of output at all times.
* Logical reasoning coupled with meticulous attention to detail when analysing information or executing processes critical to client satisfaction.
