What we want

The Assistant Research Scientist is responsible for conducting research in mechanisms of extracellular vesicles from mesenchymal stem cells in treating autoimmune disease and radiation damages. The Assistant Research Scientist will utilize the skills and expertise granted to them by their education and experience to complete related research projects and write research papers and grant proposals. Other duties include mentoring trainees, presenting related papers and research progresses, and facility maintenance and laboratory management.

Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.   

Location: Bryan, TX

Schedule: Full-Time; This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.

Required Education and Experience

  • Appropriate PhD in relevant field.

  • Relevant research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year experience of postdoctoral training in biomedical research

  • PhD in cell biology, immunology, genetics, or molecular biology.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Experiences in working with laboratory mice and adult human stem cells.

  • Experience in bioinformatics.


Responsibilities

Research

  • Will be responsible for conducting independent research into their field of expertise.

  • Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise.

  • Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite.

  • Analyzes research data and summarizes results.

  • Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.

  • Assists with grant acquisition.


Mentoring

  • Mentors and supervises graduate students and student researchers who are working on research related to the project.


Presentations

  • Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented to small and/or large groups.

  • Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.


Facility maintenance and laboratory management

  • Cooperate with other members of the laboratory staff in maintaining instruments and facilities of the lab or shared within the department.

  • Order reagents and supplies and help managing the laboratory.
