Hourly Rate:

AE-RA-Tuteur / TA-RA-Tutor : $31.89 ou/or $50.25 (2024-2025)

The academic year starts on September 1 and ends on August 31.

Undergraduate students will be paid at the lower rate; while graduate students will be paid at the higher rate.

These rates do not included vacation pay nor statutory pay.

These rates will be applied until a new collective agreement is ratified. Retro will be paid after the ratification.

Requirements and Nature of Work:

Responsibilities:

  • Seeking a highly organized and articulate Graduate Administrative Assistant to provide comprehensive support to the Principal Investigator.
  • This role requires a unique blend of high-level administrative efficiency and subject matter expertise.
  • The successful candidate will manage the day-to-law logistics of multiple research projects while utilizing their background in psychology to handle sensitive research data and participant interactions with professionalism and care.
  • The job is on campus and requires being on campus in the office.  Must have own laptop computer. Submit a resume and copy of your transcript for consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Management: Coordinate complex calendars, schedule research team meetings, and manage deadlines to ensure smooth project operations.
  • Correspondence & Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for the study. Handle email correspondence and field phone calls with exceptional etiquette, screening inquiries and maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders. Set up of teleconference equipment for weekly lab meetings.
  • Data Collection Support: Assist in the administration of surveys and data entry. Use subject matter knowledge to flag potential issues in data sets related to mental health metrics.
  • Document Preparation: Utilize the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to draft memos, format reports, and organize datasets.
  • Travel Coordination: Arrange detailed domestic and international travel itineraries for conferences and fieldwork, including booking flights and accommodations, and compiling/processing expense reimbursements.
  • Logistics & Errands: Monitor inventory, order research and office supplies, and perform necessary local errands to maintain lab efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in psychology required. Must be currently enrolled in a uOttawa academic program.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated understanding of psychopathology and clinical terminology is essential, as the role involves handling sensitive content regarding mental health and trauma.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Outlook for scheduling and Excel for data organization), experience with SPSS is preferable.
  • Communication: Superior verbal communication and phone skills are mandatory; ability to interact with participants, patients, and staff with empathy and professionalism.
