Assistant Prototype Engineer

Position Summary

Organize the assembly of prototype samples and responsible for performance checking of NIN prototype samples.

Responsibilities

1.Support the Purchasing Department in conducting professional technical assessments of prototype parts and communicating with suppliers.

2.Handle prototype-related quotations, validate costs for required fixtures, manufacturing, labor, and auxiliary materials, and provide information to the Sales Department.

3.Design fixtures required for prototype production, notify technicians to submit Purchase Requisitions (PR), follow up on fixture usage, and manage documentation.

4.Determine material needs (purchasing vs. in-house production) based on prototype requirements; issue PRs for materials and manufacturing requests to production lines, ensuring smooth communication and coordination.

5.Upon notification of material arrival, instruct technicians to submit online material requests and quality inspection requests; ensure material retrieval and inspection.

6.Arrange prototype production tasks and assignments to ensure technicians complete assembly according to the production plan.

7.After assembly, submit finished-product inspection requests, coordinate product testing with technicians, retrieve parts post-testing, and guide packaging.

8.Follow up on the PSDR approval process; upload proof of delivery to PSDR after the customer receives the prototypes.

9.Maintain communication and coordination with other departments or suppliers to support external resource requirements during production.

10.Participate in prototype-related equipment procurement, conduct domestic and overseas equipment acceptance, establish acceptance procedures, and issue acceptance reports.

11.Responsible for writing SOPs for production equipment and processes, and providing operational training to employees.

12.Train and monitor employees on equipment maintenance and calibration, and archive calibration reports.

13.Ensure all production processes and equipment usage comply with EHS requirements, and implement EHS improvement actions.

14.Participate in various meetings, support HR with technician work-hour arrangements and overtime registration, and complete other daily tasks assigned by the department.

15.Proficient in quality problem analysis methods including 8D, Red-X, etc.; familiar with engine design and development processes; able to analyze and solve simple product quality issues.

16.Proficient in CAD, Creo (Pro/E), and UG software.

In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.

Requirements / Qualifications

1.Bachelor’s degree or above.

2.More than 3 years of experience in the automotive industry.

3.Capable of reading and writing business emails in English.

4.Experience in the automotive industry is preferred.

5.Experience in prototyping or testing is preferred.
