Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of 9-Month Assistant Professor of Business (Management). We seek candidates who are passionate about fostering student success among a diverse undergraduate student population and will have exhibited excellence in high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level, including involving undergraduates in research.  

Faculty teach 24 credits per academic year (4 courses per semester) and engage in scholarship and service activities.

About Business at Nevada State: 

The Department of Business, housed in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Business, offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with five concentration options. The department consists of six tenured/tenure-track faculty members, including one Director who are dedicated to experiential learning and providing real-world experiences that provide students with the job-ready preparedness needed to meet the evolving and dynamic demands of today’s business organizations in the Nevada. Ultimately, our program aims to cultivate well-rounded students with the business knowledge, critical thinking skills, and lifelong learning skills needed to succeed in the workplace and/or in graduate school.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Teach lower- and upper-level courses, primarily within the field of management studies in a variety of formats (e.g., in-person, hybrid, online). 
  • Teach 24 credits per academic year, which amounts to four courses per semester. 
  • Advise/mentor business majors/minors. 
  • Serve on departmental and college-wide committees. 
  • Engage in scholarly activity within your discipline and/or in the scholarship of teaching and learning. See the Academic Standards for Promotion and Tenure for more information.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Management or related field or a DBA (Candidates who are ABD are eligible with the expectation that the Ph.D. will be completed by July 31, 2026). 
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a genuine interest in joining Nevada State University. 
    • Demonstrated experience teaching preferably in various formats and modalities.
    • Demonstrated interest in teaching and curriculum development within all modalities.
    • Please note: A live teaching demonstration will be required at a later stage of the selection process.
  • Demonstrated dedication to or interest in working with a diverse student population. 
  • Demonstrated ability and an interest in teaching general management courses such as: 
    • Management Principles and Organizational Behavior 
    • Advanced Organizational Behavior 
    • Change Management 
    • Strategic Management and Policy 
  • Experience with, or desire to teach online, hybrid, or evening classes. 
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Rank, Salary & Benefits: 

9-month. Tenure-track. Budgeted salary for this position is commensurate with experience. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 19.25% retirement match, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
