Summary of Job Duties:

The Associate Professor will report to the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Project Director for administrative issues and to the Department Chair in Genetic Counseling for academic issues. This position will work closely with the LEND Training Director on all training-related matters, including didactic and clinical components. Collaborates with Clinical Directors at participating clinical sites regarding clinical training activities and may supervise genetic counseling trainees or students participating in LEND-related experiences.


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling required.

  • Applicants must be on the LEND Grant prior start date.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for the integration of genetic counseling within the LEND training program and serves as the primary representative of the discipline within the interdisciplinary training model. 

  • Helps plan, organize, and coordinate training experiences for genetic counseling trainees, ensuring that discipline-specific competencies related to genetics, family history interpretation, testing pathways, and counseling for individuals with neurodevelopmental and congenital conditions are incorporated into training activities.

  • Participates actively in interdisciplinary training, clinical service, and research initiatives and serves on at least one LEND standing committee.

  • Functions as a liaison between LEND and the Genetic Counseling program and affiliated clinical services to promote collaboration in training, service delivery, and scholarly work.

  • Supports trainees in developing and implementing their Individualized Training Plans and contributes to the selection of training materials and educational presentations.

  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to Title V programs, specialty clinics, and community partners regarding genetic considerations in developmental disabilities and complex medical conditions.

  • Responsibilities include assisting with the recruitment and selection of long-term genetic counseling trainees and supporting ongoing program development to strengthen interdisciplinary training in genetic counseling within LEND.
