Under the supervision of the Director of Golf, the Assistant Golf Professional will assist in overall golf and Club daily operations and activities associated with Makena Golf & Beach Club. This includes but is not limited to managing the Outside Golf Operation team, all member and guest practice and play, tournament and even production, golf instruction and all other member and guest service-related activities. Works in a team environment to provide the highest levels of service leading to unparalleled private club experience for all members and guests. 

Responsibilities

  • Managing the Golf Operation Team, including but not limited to scheduling, training, payroll, recognition and employee relations.
  • Maintains a high level of playing ability befitting a golf professional.
  • Responsible for all golf operations services including valet, golf, club cleaning and bag storage.
  • Be fully informed of all club activities and services and promote accordingly to all prospects, members and guests.
  • Assist in the monitoring of all practice and course play in accordance with Club standards.
  • Perform simple club repair needs and assist with the ordering and inventory management for required supplies.
  • Assist in inventory, presentation, circulation and comprehensive management of the golf car fleet.
  • Assist in the inventory control and ordering of practice facility and golf operation supplies.
  • Upon request, act as an extension of the Sales & Marketing efforts by giving tours, playing golf with prospects and patrons, and attending functions on behalf of the Club.
  • Assist with occasional golf instruction activities to prospects, members and guests – including but not limited to clinics, schools, junior instruction, private lessons and on-course coaching.
  • Take an active “ownership” role in accounting and caring for all Club assets (demo clubs, comfort stations, furniture, golf cars, etc.)
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.  Be available for special events from time to time – this may require your presence at the Club beyond normal working hours.
  • Follow safe work practices, including the correct lifting techniques and use of equipment.
  • Comply with all Company policy and procedures.
  • Complete other duties and tasks assigned by management from time to time.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Class A PGA Member or actively pursuing PGA Membership.  
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of TEI preferred and golf tournament software required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
  • Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
  • Frequent repetitive motions.
  • Continuous standing and walking.
