Job Description:

Role Overview

3M is looking for a hands-on, people-centric HR professional who will play a critical role in creating a culture of pride, belonging, accountability and performance. This role combines strategic HR partnering with strong day‑to‑day execution, ensuring that employees and leaders receive responsive, practical and high‑quality HR support across the employee lifecycle.

The role requires someone who is equally comfortable shaping people conversations and resolving complex people issues; someone who takes pride in being a visible, trusted HR presence for leaders and employees.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Partnership & Culture Building

  • Partner closely with leaders, supervisors and employees to foster a workplace aligned with 3M’s culture, values and Code of Conduct.
  • Support leaders in creating and sustaining an inclusive, respectful, and high‑performance environment through coaching, mentoring and role modelling.
  • Independently lead local deployment of business‑driven people plans, translating enterprise HR strategies into practical, on‑ground actions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders on organizational effectiveness, talent considerations, and people‑related decision‑making.

Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations matters, including policy clarification, grievance handling, behavioural concerns and workplace issues.
  • Manage performance conversations, including running Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) in partnership with managers.
  • Handle voluntary and involuntary exits, including sensitive cases and business‑led role reductions, with professionalism, empathy and policy adherence.
  • Work closely with Legal, Total Rewards, Payroll and administrative teams to ensure ER matters, exits and performance actions are well‑executed.

Employee Lifecycle & Operational HR Delivery

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to understand joining plans, timelines, special requirements and support smooth onboarding experiences.
  • Personally engage with new hires on Day 1, providing onboarding orientation and reinforcing 3M culture and expectations.
  • Actively manage daily HR interactions, responding to high volumes of emails, calls, ad‑hoc queries from employees and leaders across levels.
  • Track, analyze, and present people data (attrition, exits, trends) to support informed decision‑making.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless delivery of HR services.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate across HR CoEs to deliver consistent, high‑quality HR solutions spanning rewards, payroll, compliance, policies and employee experience.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, governance and service delivery to enhance the Hire‑to‑Retire experience.
  • Support Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives, allyship and employee engagement efforts through practical, on‑ground execution.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 12–15 years of experience in the HR/People space, with demonstrated experience in HR Business Partnering or HR Operations roles.
  • Prior experience handling employee relations, performance management, exit management and stakeholder‑heavy HR delivery.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, commercial, technology or corporate environments is preferred.
  • MBA from a reputed institute (HR or equivalent specialization preferred).

Critical Skills & Attributes

  • Strong judgment, resilience, ability to handle sensitive people issues with confidence and care
  • Ability to operate with speed, autonomy and practicality in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent listening, communication and stakeholder‑management skills
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to simplify policies and frameworks for business application
  • High degree of ownership, follow‑through, credibility with leaders and employees
