Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director for the Learning Environment and Academic Research Network (L.E.A.R.N.) program. - Boca Raton, FL.
This position is responsible for managing the Learning Environment and Academic Research Network (L.E.A.R.N.) program, a cohort-based research learning communities at FAU for both STEM and Humanities and Social Science students (HSS). The Assistant Director reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Undergraduate Research and Prestigious Fellowships and be responsible for all aspects of managing this program, including recruiting and selecting students and teaching the Introduction to Research courses.
Summary of responsibilities:
Manage all sections of the LEARN Program
Coordinate between the varying LEARN cohorts (STEM and HSS)
Refine course materials related to the Introduction to Research I and II courses
Teach two sections of each of the Fall and Spring STEM courses
Grade course materials and administering assessments related to the course and program
Marketing, recruiting, and selecting participants and peer mentors for all LEARN cohorts
Train and mentor student Peer Mentors associated with all LEARN cohorts
Assist students in finding faculty research mentors
Mentor students regarding academic, professional, and research resources internal and external to FAU
Develop and host out-of-classroom academic and social events to facilitate cohort community building
Serve as a liaison between LEARN program staff, students, and mentors and OURI
Work with internal (e.g. Kelly Strull, Career Center, University Honors etc.) and external partner programs (e.g. State colleges and high schools) to recruit students into the program
Assist the Office of Undergraduate Research and Inquiry with events, programs, recruitment
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Serve on committees as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
A master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of appropriate experience required.Salary:
