Job Summary: This position is located with the Aquatics Division - Fort Polk, Louisiana. Join our team at Fort Polk-home of the Joint Readiness Training Center. DFMWR integrates and delivers Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs and services enabling readiness and resilience for a globally-responsive Army.

Major Duties:

  • Assist the aquatics manager in the supervision of the aquatic programs and acts as head lifeguard. Assist with planning and administering a wide range of fairly typical, conventional and well-established basic aquatic activities.
  • Assist manager in planning and establishing aquatic certification curriculum to include lifeguarding, lifeguard instructor, water safety instructor, water fitness ,and other safety, fitness and recreational certification and educational programming.
  • Review budget execution reports with the aquatic manager to ensure desired execution rate is met. Assists in the preparation of the annual quarterly and monthly budget input including UFR updates and request for special funding.
  • Maintains adequate staffing to ensure a safe, functional, and enjoyable recreation activity. Assists with maintaining, ensuring accountability and proper operating condition of equipment.
  • Assists and advises guests of available programs and responds to concerns. Represents the program department.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: - Demonstrated experience in planning and executing aquatic programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor aquatic programs and facilities. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level. - Current certification in Life guarding or Life guarding instructor - First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent. A copy of the certificate(s) MUST be uploaded at time of application to be considered. The following certificate must be obtained within 12 months of appointment: - Water Safety Instructor - Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Pool Operator certification.
