Participates in the entire software development lifecycle, with a primary focus on evergreen support of existing software solutions requiring significant knowledge of enabled business domain, workflows and processes.

GBS Chevron Global Business Services (GBS), located in Buenos Aires (Puerto Madero), Argentina,  is accepting applications for the position of Application Engineer. Successful candidates will join the IT Organization which is part of a multifunction service center with a workforce of more than 1800 employees that deliver business services and solutions to the corporation across the globe.

This position plays an active role in the software development lifecycle with a primary focus on maintaining vendor software, optimizing evergreen support (through configuration, automation, and integration) and supporting Business Needs.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze and evaluate IT systems and processes to identify areas for improvement.

  • Design and implement efficient IT solutions to meet business requirements in collaboration with technical teams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document system requirements.

  • Perform system testing and validation procedures.

  • Provide technical support and training to end-users.

  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.

  • Maintain and update system documentation.

  • Ensure data security and compliance with company policies.

  • Build and support low code solutions.
     

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Procurement solutions, preferably within the oil and gas industry

  • Hands-on expertise with platforms such as ARIBA /GEP

  • Strong understanding of procurement workflows and integration with ERP systems

  • Proficient communication and facilitation skills with solid ability to convey business and technical information to a diverse audience

  • Knowledge in SAP/JDE ERP Systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to engage difficulties with persistence

  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, including planning, coordination, and stakeholder engagement, are considered a strong asset

  • Experience working with agile methodologies

  • Experience with Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps

  • Familiarity with integration patterns (API, Messaging)

  • Familiarity with (any of these) ERP (SAP/JDE), Fieldglass,  HCM (Workday) is considered a plus

•Provides responsive technical support and troubleshooting for applications, resolving issues and minimizing user disruption.

•Manages and maintains software configuration settings to support operational consistency and compliance.

•Participates or leads in testing and deployment activities to ensure quality and stability of software releases.

•Develops and implements small-scale enhancements using scripting or programming to improve functionality or user experience.

•Generates reports that support business capabilities, operational monitoring, decision-making, and performance tracking.

•Leads software lifecycle activities of established software primarily for maintenance and retirement phases.
