Application Engineer - Automation

What You Will Do:

  • Supports the design and implementation of technology products or computer programs using computer software; identifies, understands, and documents customer or product requirements; develops technical specifications.
  • Provides input to design, build, and tests original applications; tests existing applications; troubleshoots and resolves applications issues.
  • May compile and present technical papers to promote PCS Ferguson/SLB products and services.
  • Contributes to a work group; works well with other engineering and technical team members.
  • Provides technical assistance for product and process improvement, failure analysis, and testing.
  • Contributes to the department continuous improvement culture.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all matters.
  • Provides technical and sales support for the Automation Product Lines; including the 8000 series well site automation controllers and Smarten Unify controller.
  • Provide/facilitate technical training of field representatives on all aspects (from product knowledge to strategic sales) of all automation; with emphasis on Unify and 8000 series controllers
  • Provide technical installation and support (i.e. Unify, 8000 series pilots)
  • Provide sales support assistance in quoting, configuration, ordering, tracking, customer integration, and installation etc.
  • Internally communicate needs of targeted customers and work with other groups as needed to formulate solutions, new products and actions required to support the unify product line.
  • May manage direct field testing of products and systems performed by field staff.
  • Other duties as required.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Drug and alcohol testing
  • Fitness-to-work testing
  • Drivers’ abstract

Position Details:

  • Working between a facility and on customer sites/remote locations.
  • Permanent
  • Full-time
  • Mainly working day shift operations, with overtime as required
  • Weekend or night shift may be required dependent on customer requirements.
  • Overnight travel will be required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent degree from an accredited program in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field required.
  • Experience working with mechanical assembly and service an asset
  • Previous experience working with machinery and power tools considered an asset
  • Experience working with hand tools and air tools
  • Plunger lift, GAPL/PAGL optimization preferred, however not required
  • Class 5 driver’s license with clean record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework in petroleum, software, or electrical, and/or mechanical engineering preferred
