AltaGas - EHS Specialist
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead the EHS path at our Blythe plant. We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist for a newly created, independent role that offers significant autonomy and impact. As the site’s EHS Specialist, you will take ownership of all environmental, health, and safety functions - paving the way for a strong, proactive safety culture and advancing programs that support our guiding value of Safety.
You’ll have the freedom to refine programs, mature processes, and collaborate across the facility to strengthen regulatory compliance and foster a thriving safety mindset. In this role, you will manage all aspects of EHS compliance, develop and implement safety programs, support regulatory reporting, conduct assessments, lead cultural safety initiatives, and partner with teams to ensure a safe, reliable operating environment. This position is ideal for someone energized by building, improving, collaborating, and serving as a key driver of safety excellence.
What You'll Do
Maintain compliance with EPA, OSHA, NERC, and state/local environmental permits (Title V, SWPP, SPCC)
Prepare and submit environmental reports, including waste management and air emissions
Maintain OSHA 300 logs and all required incident documentation
Develop and implement safety programs such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and Arc Flash Safety
Conduct facility inspections, risk assessments, and behavior‑based safety observations
Identify hazards and lead corrective and preventative actions
Deliver safety orientations and specialized training for employees and contractors
Lead safety committee meetings and promote a strong safety culture
Conduct root‑cause investigations for accidents and near misses and recommend actions to prevent recurrence
Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and coordinate emergency drills
Oversee contractor safety and ensure compliance with all site standards
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
What You'll Bring
3-10 years of EHS experience, ideally in power generation or heavy manufacturing
Strong understanding of EPA, OSHA, and environmental regulations
Ability to foster a positive work environment and uphold safety and ethical standards
Ability to work in a power plant environment, including climbing, confined spaces, PPE use, and varied weather conditions
Willingness to support on‑call needs during outages or incidents
High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field preferred
Preferred certifications: CSP, CIH, or ASP
Shape and own the EHS function in a newly created, autonomous role at the Blythe facility
Directly influence safety culture and lead meaningful, lasting improvements

We offer a competitive salary range of $89,800 - $110,600 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
