Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Tenant Development Manager, incumbent provides administrative support to manage and continually improve the tenant development permitting process. Ensures all tenant improvement projects are processed and developed efficiently and in compliance with airport policies, design standards, and other relevant regulations. Work primarily involves coordination of the tenant application, review, permitting, construction, and closeout process between tenant representatives, airport divisions, and contractors.

About the Position:

Salt Lake City Department of Airports is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tenant Development Coordinator to support and streamline the tenant improvement permitting process from application through project closeout. This role partners with tenant representatives, airport divisions, and contractors to coordinate reviews, track project progress, and help ensure development projects are delivered efficiently and in compliance with airport standards and regulations, while supporting the operational excellence of one of the nation’s busiest airports.

Position Hourly Range:

$28.05 - $34.76/hr based on qualifications and experience.

Typical Duties:

  • Assists in the development and management of the internal database of all tenant proposals received, including tracking project status, coordinating all review comments and correspondence, and managing key deadlines and documentation from submission to closeout. Compiles data related to permitting and construction times, tenant compliance and other project metrics that support ongoing process improvement.

  • Assists in administration and coordination of meetings related to the tenant development process, including pre-application, design review, pre-construction, and regular construction site visits and progress meetings. Responsibilities include scheduling, preparing meeting materials, and documentation of meetings.

  • Assists in administration of permit submission and tracking systems. In conjunction with the Tenant Development Manager, reviews tenant submissions for compliance with Tenant Improvement Guidelines, Tenant Design Standards, and other airport policies and regulations. Facilitates the routing of documents for internal stakeholder review and approval.

  • Supports the Tenant Development Manager in administering Tenant Improvement Guidelines and Design Standards, and helps to track compliance with documents during tenant construction via plan review, site visits, and inspections.

  • Assists with the design, implementation and maintenance of the tenant development web page and related tenant development resources.

  • Assists with the periodic updates of Tenant Improvement Guidelines, Tenant Design Standards, and other documents related to the tenant development process.

  •  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or engineering field, and three years of experience in planning, design, or construction project coordination and administration.  Related education and experience may be substituted, one for the other, on a year-for-year basis.

  • Knowledge of principles, practices and methods of civil and facilities planning, design and construction procedures and methods, and familiarity with construction project schedules. Ability to understand, interpret and write contractual agreements, requests for proposals, and requests for information, including an in-depth understanding of local, state and federal requirements as they relate to AIP and PFC funding.

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work from numerous sources with conflicting schedules, priorities and deadlines.  Ability to interact well with internal and external customers and function as an effective team member.

  • Ability to gather, compile and disseminate information; solve problems; and work independently.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.  Ability to present information and make presentations to large groups.  Ability to use computer programs including word processing, spreadsheets and databases (Word Perfect, Excel and ACCESS preferred).

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license or driving privilege card.  Ability to travel to various locations throughout the airport, including working construction sites.

Working Conditions:

  • Light physical effort.  Handling of light weights and generally pleasant working conditions with little or no exposure to hazards.  Exposure to stressful situations associated with multiple projects, deadlines, etc.
