Zayo is seeking an experienced AI/Software Automation Engineer to join our AI Center of Excellence. This role will focus on creating automation agents and services that streamline manual tasks, such as data entry, transactions, and analysis. These solutions will be in addition to our AI support from established Zayo systems based on platforms such as Salesforce and ServceNow.
Responsibilities:
Develop automation projects utilizing OpenAI based agents that properly handle and securely process private, corporate data alongside external data sources.
Script and code primarily in Python to build and deploy automation solutions.
Engage with internal customers to understand opportunities and craft solutions.
Build and validate prototypes, assure reliability, and transform into final implementations.
Harden applications for production readiness and ensure data security and compliance.
Collaborate with appropriate teams to integrate automation workflows.
What Success Looks Like:
Build and deliver internal and external AI based solutions to deliver value to the business as process cost savings or customer revenue support.
Short time cycles (months) for deploying result by leveraging AI for building code, and using intelligent solutions exploiting existing sofwtare systems.
Strong collaboration with internal stakeholders to understand automation opportunities and requirements and translate these into prototypes and final implementations.
Qualifications:
Minimum of ten (10) years of software development experience.
Minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in AI-driven automation projects.
Demonstrated proficiency in Python scripting.
Demonstrated experience building and designing complex systems (e.g., workflows, distributed applications).
Familiarity with OpenAI technology, Agent related commonly accepted practices (e.g., A2A and MCP), and other AI technology relevant to building agents.
Experience with GIT, JIRA, Agile and software development pipelines.
General understanding of data security practices, especially in automation.
Superior written and oral communication skills, including comfort interacting with customers when needed.
Ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences.
Strong ownership mindset—you take responsibility for outcomes, not just outputs.
Humility and curiosity: willing to be wrong, learn, and adapt.
Telecom experience is a strong plus, but not required if you learn quickly and think in systems.
Experience working with AWS, and enterprise platforms like ServiceNow, Salesforce, or OracleFusion is a plus.
Estimated Base Salary Range: $89,800.00 - $138,200.00 USD/annually.
The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
