Job Summary
The Advanced Solutions Network Engineer 3 is responsible for the design, implementation, and operational support of customer solutions for all Comcast Business products. Provides technical leadership, advice and support for real time analysis, design, testing, and operations of software defined networks, managed network services, security services, etc. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial technical environment. Will take direction from lead engineers but also may lead projects while sharing expertise and coaching other engineers.
The Advanced Solutions Network Engineer 3 role will be virtual with no anticipated travel.
Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
- Strong understanding and ability to build end-to-end secure network solutions with additional services like WiFi, VoIP, LTE, etc.
- Works within a Software Defined Networking (SDN) environment with Security (UTM/NGFW).
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of Network Function Virtualization (VNF) concepts and strategies including Universal Customer Premise Equipment (uCPE).
- Demonstrates good knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP) routing and switching fundamentals (See Preferred Qualifications).
- Works in a 24x7 Operations environment supporting live customers in a Tier 4 setting.
- Supports both standard customers as well as large, complex customers with custom designs and configurations.
- Creates custom solutions and proof of concepts (PoCs) for customers and tests those out in lab environments.
- Exercises judgment during incident management, site design, network configuration and network activation to ensure efficient use of time.
- Performs technical training and mentorship to junior operations/engineering teammates.
- Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering and development methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application.
- Comfortable with quarterly rotational on-call requirements.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrates knowledge of the following:
- Internet Protocol (IP) routing and switching fundamentals to include network topologies, routing protocols, IP addressing, firewalls
- Network Address Translation (NAT), Quality of Service (QoS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name Service (DNS)
- Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Virtual LAN (VLAN) architectures, High Availability, Unified Threat Management
- OSI layer 1-7 protocols and technologies (TCP/UDP, Ethernet, WIFI, security, etc.)
- Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GPC) and testing platforms (IXIA and Spirent)
- Knowledgeable in network security (NGFW/UTM) both on premises and cloud-based.
- Ability to create custom solutions, build and test those solutions in the lab.
- Ability to document and communicate solutions to Operations and Management.
