As an Actuarial Advisor, Model Validation, you will play a key role in the independent validation and critical challenge of models deemed critical and important to the organization. You will actively contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s model risk governance framework, in an environment where intellectual rigor and independence of judgment are essential.
What you’ll accomplish with us
As an Actuarial Advisor, Model Validation, you will be at the heart of our mission. Your main responsibilities will include:
Reviewing, verifying, and validating the conceptual soundness of models, design testing exercises, and model limitations.
Ensuring that models meet business needs and are fit for purpose while complying with regulatory and internal requirements.
Reviewing model performance and optimal use.
Developing, as needed, tools to compare and reproduce model results for validation purposes.
Ensuring that changes in markets, products, exposures, activities, clients, or business practices do not create new or emerging model risks.
Contributing to the drafting of validation reports, including results and recommendations for each validated model.
Following up on remediation plans and ensuring that recommendations are closed within established timelines.
Participating in the development and maintenance of a model inventory and in model risk assessments.
Communicating standardized model risk management practices across the organization.
Developing and maintaining validation procedures.
Participating in the independent review of ESCAP and TCM reports for the Group’s various entities.
What could accelerate your success in this role
We’re looking for someone who:
Holds a university degree in actuarial science.
Has a minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in advanced modeling or actuarial work in the life insurance or P&C sector.
Is a member of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA/ACIA) or is actively pursuing actuarial certification, with demonstrable exam progress.
Is able to exercise independent professional judgment and challenge models developed by senior experts.
Demonstrates a strong ability to quickly learn new platforms and reproduce complex calculations from first principles.
Stands out for strong analytical, synthesis, and communication skills, both written and verbal, when presenting complex results.
Is proficient with quantitative tools: advanced spreadsheets, databases, mathematical software, and programming languages.
Has a solid understanding of insurance products and regulatory expectations related to model risk management.
Has an advanced level of English proficiency, as the role requires regular communication with English-speaking collaborators and the drafting of documentation in English.

Compensation
The typical hiring range for this position is between $105,000 and $130,000. Base salary may vary depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity. This position also offers an attractive incentive compensation program, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
