Summary of Job Duties:

The Access Services and Outreach Assistant is a classified position that works under the supervision of the Director of Library Services. The Access Services and Outreach Assistant performs detailed activities related to the public services functions of the Library, contributing to circulating physical materials, managing patron accounts and fines, receiving serials, and processing donations of physical items. Additionally, the Access Services and Outreach Assistant assists the Student Success Librarian in coordinating displays and exhibitions, managing events, and overseeing social media accounts.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree. One year of work experience in an office environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in library public services. Bachelor’s degree.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide public service at the Front Desk, including, but not limited to, checking library materials in and out, maintaining patron accounts, responding to requests for information and assistance from patrons, and answering phones and emails.

  • Opens the Library Monday-Friday (regular working hours of 7am-4pm).

  • Manage patron account information, especially with regards to fines and fees and reciprocal borrowing arrangements.

  • Receive and check-in serials using the Library’s integrated library system (ILS) and communicate with vendors about errors in orders.

  • In accordance with procurement policies, maintain appropriate levels of office supplies to ensure continuous library operations.

  • Coordinates receiving donations of physical materials to the Library.

  • In conjunction with the Student Success Librarian, coordinates exhibitions and displays in the Library.

  • In conjunction with the Student Success Librarian, manages events in the Library, including liaising with the space coordinator, catering, and marketing to ensure smooth operations of Library events.

  • In conjunction with the Student Success Librarian, manages the Library’s social media accounts.

  • Responsible for promoting a positive customer service experience

  • Other duties as assigned.
