Digitization was only the beginning – AI is now rewriting how the world learns. At Sanoma Learning, we are harnessing generative AI and advanced analytics to personalize study paths, reduce teachers’ workload, and inspire every learner.
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead one of our flagship AI products – ‘Student Assistant’. This is a high-impact role with end-to-end ownership: from defining product vision and aligning stakeholders across countries, to overseeing delivery and launch at scale.
In our matrix organization, you will work closely with engineering, data science, research, content, legal, commercial, and local country teams. You will report to the ‘Senior Director Data & AI’ for day-to-day delivery and to the ‘Product Management competence lead’ for your professional development.
Your key responsibilities
- Define, own, and communicate the product vision and roadmap for customer-facing AI applications, aligned with Sanoma Learning’s AI strategy and market needs across multiple countries
- Lead cross-functional collaboration across engineering, data science, integrations, legal, content, commercial, and country organizations to turn strategy into shipped outcomes
- Own end-to-end product delivery, including discovery, prioritization, release planning, launch coordination, and post-launch optimization
- Oversee product releases and dependencies across multiple teams, ensuring quality, continuity, and readiness for market
- Translate strategic goals into actionable plans by refining epics, features, and stories, keeping priorities transparent and focused on user and business impact
- Champion data-informed decision-making, leveraging usage analytics, experiments, and user research to continuously improve learning outcomes and adoption
- Act as a steward of ethical AI and data privacy, ensuring learner trust is embedded in all product decisions
- Represent the product to senior stakeholders, clearly communicating progress, risks, trade-offs, and impact
- Own and refine the Product Backlog: slice Epics into Features and Stories, validate acceptance criteria, and keep priorities transparent to business and engineering
- Prepare and facilitate sprint plannings, reviews, and retrospectives within a Scrum environment
Formal Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, or a comparable role, with responsibility for customer-facing digital products
- Proven ability to lead products in complex, matrix environments with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Experience driving product launches and coordinating across non-technical domains (e.g. legal, commercial, content, integrations)
- Demonstrated AI experience or strong hands-on curiosity, whether through shipped ML-powered features, formal training, or side projects
Meritorious
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, APIs, recommendation systems, or adaptive learning technologies
- Experience with A/B testing, experimentation, or evidence-based optimization
- Background in EdTech, learning platforms, or mission-critical B2C products
Keys to Success
- Strong product judgment – you can turn ambiguity into clarity, align teams around a shared direction, and make trade-offs explicit
- Excellent communication skills in English, able to influence technical and non-technical audiences at all levels
- Data-driven decision-making approach
- Proactive and positive “can-do” attitude, demonstrating initiative and resilience
- Strong organizational skills, adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Self-motivated, consistently seeking opportunities for improvement and innovation
Position Specs
- Location – Helsinki/Finland, Warsaw/Poland or Madrid/Spain
- Type of Work – Hybrid model (3/5 days at the office)
