The Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences is a fast-paced environment with faculty, staff, and students. We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual to join the team. The purpose of this role is to assist the members of the department in their teaching and research efforts while fostering a friendly and supportive environment. While this position has a varying range of duties, a large focus is on student employment, faculty support, and administrative tasks related to employees and the graduate programs.
Job Responsibilities:
20% Administrative Support :
-Works with Vet Med HR for CBS department.
-Act as the face of the department by greeting people at the front desk, including answering all departmental phone calls, managing the department fax email account, managing news and social media.
-Assist CBS department head in daily tasks. -Assist department head with promotion/tenure progress. -Maintains and updates all CBS poster boards.
20% Faculty Support:
-Manages and monitors promotion, tenure, credentialing, and visas and immigration processes and assists the CBS chair of the personnel committee.
-Creates and sends emails to faculty, and responds to faculty inquires.
-Assists in writing support and recommendation letters.
-Sends out communications to department on behalf of department head.
20% Student Employment:
-Manage hiring, scheduling, I-9 verifications, and supervision of student workers.
-Liasons with student employment office to resolve student worker matters.
-Graduate Student Support: Assist the CBS graduate advisor with tracking funding, monitoring progress, emailing, scheduling, course updates, and supporting graduate in CBS department.
-Assist CBS course directors with scheduling and course updates and new course submissions.
-Manages student travel, spend authorizations, card reconciliation, and expense reports.
15%-Assists or serves as substitute for the CBS Operations Coordinator in taking minutes at the department faculty meetings.
-Assists CBS Operations Coordinator in managing departmental calendars, coordinating and planning events and retreats for faculty and students.
-Assists CBS Operations Coordinator with department inventory.
-Assists CBS Operations Coordinator with package delivery.
-Assists CBS Operations Coordinator in maintaining the departmental copy machine.
15%- Serves as back up to CBS Operations coordinator.
-Manages all aspects of the CBS Seminar series that happen in the Fall and Spring semesters, including itineraries, hotel reservations, airfares, meals, flyers, any paperwork, spend authorizations, expense reports, and all communication.
-Manages and maintains calendars for the department, schedules meetings for faculty/staff/graduate students, reserves rooms for events when needed, and supports other needs of the department and department head. Manages all aspects of graduate student retreat, Neuroscience symposium, and other events as assigned.
10%- Other Duties as Assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience; OR a Master's degree.

Requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching (above shoulder), reaching (below shoulder), vision (near sight), vision (far sight), squatting, lifting more than 50 pounds, and lifting less than 50 pounds.
Operational Essential Personnel- This position may be asked to work during an official closure, but who is otherwise not required to report to the physical campus During a closure and whose absence does not present a risk to the safety, resources, and well-being of the campus per FASOP HR-01.
