Public Affairs & Access is a multi-disciplinary organization that includes Access Solutions & Patient Support; Channel & Contract Management; Corporate Communications; External Affairs; Patient Strategy; Policy, Evidence, & Access Strategy; and Strategic Business Operations. This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, On-Site.
The Opportunity
Access Solutions & Patient Support is seeking a summer intern to support our work on the Operations and Communication Team. The intern will also be encouraged to gain cross-functional experience across Public Affairs & Access to better understand how we leverage our communications, market access, government affairs, and externally-facing capabilities to drive impact for our patients, our people, and our communities where we live and work. Interns will have peer-to-peer support, networking opportunities, and career development opportunities with other interns in Public Affairs & Access as well as throughout Genentech.
Support operational improvement initiatives: Assist with developing project plans, documenting processes, analyzing workflows, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness across Access Solutions & Patient Support.
Contribute to internal communications and materials: Help draft internal reports, presentations, updates, and communications to support cross-functional teams and leadership, ensuring information is clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate.
Coordinate and support cross-functional projects: Support the planning, tracking, and execution of cross-functional initiatives, helping teams stay aligned on timelines, deliverables, and next steps.
Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making: Research best practices in business operations and team communications, synthesize findings, and share insights that inform ongoing initiatives and process improvements.
Build tools and resources that enhance visibility and alignment: Contribute to the development of templates, dashboards, and other tools that improve operational transparency, team alignment, and day-to-day effectiveness.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in June (Summer)
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are (Requirements)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing or have attained an Associate's Degree.
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Bachelor’s Degree (not currently enrolled in a Graduate program)
Required majors: Communications, Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Liberal Arts or similar.
Required Skills:
Project coordination and basic project management skills, including planning, tracking, and follow-through
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to synthesize information for diverse audiences
Analytical and problem-solving skills, including process mapping and workflow analysis
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with common productivity tools and the ability to learn new systems quickly
Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $24- $33/hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
