At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.

Are you ready to explore the world of aerospace and defense? Do you want to learn from and collaborate with some of the greatest minds in the industry? At RTX, our internships, co-ops and full-time careers provide an exceptional foundation to work on complex problems, advance your skills and create a safer, more connected world. Discover opportunities to make a difference at RTX.

This 8-12 week internship program is designed to empower growth by exploring the dynamic nature of the defense industry through the North Texas Environmental, Health & Safety team.  This team is responsible for providing services and solutions to safeguard people and protect the environment for sites in Cityline, McKinney, Love Field, and Richardson, TX.

Throughout the summer, you will be able to expand your knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety as a whole while also gaining unprecedented exposure to leadership along the way. You’ll have opportunities to meet with other intern program participants, engage with senior leaders on topics of innovation, leadership and technology, and connect through an individual mentorship program. Our ultimate goal is to bring great talent to Raytheon. All rising junior interns will have the opportunity to be considered for a returning internship or part time work as you continue your studies.

This position supports multiple locations in North Texas but is based in the Cityline location of Richardson, TX with frequent travel to the McKinney, TX location.

What You Will Do:

  • The intern will be focused on revamping the Refrigerant Management program across four sites in the North Texas area of varying size and complexity.  The purpose of the Refrigerant Management program is to minimize emissions of refrigerants that may deplete the ozone layer or contribute to climate change, ensure compliance with applicable regulations, and maintain reliable industrial process, comfort cooling, and commercial refrigerant units.
  • In additional U.S. EPA requirements, the internal Raytheon requirements for Refrigerant Management are complex and have recently been reissued with a 2026 year-end deadline for implementation.  The intern would be charged with learning the new requirements and working with EHS and Facilities at the various sites to develop a plan for program improvement and implementation.  A successful candidate would implement key components of the plan by the end of the summer, design and get stakeholder support on common processes, standardize documentation, and get buy-in on roles and responsibilities for all elements of the refrigerant management program at the North Texas sites.
  • Program elements include maintaining/updating the refrigerant system inventory, service and repair records, gas cylinder management, leak rate calculations, equipment retrofit/retirement planning, periodic and follow-up leak testing, and recycling/disposal of refrigerants.
  • Additional tasks and smaller projects may be assigned such as supporting the managing and inspection of satellite hazardous waste accumulation areas at the McKinney, TX manufacturing location.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Must be at least a sophomore by the start of summer 2026 pursuing a degree in Engineering (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical), Science (Environmental, Health, Safety – Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene), Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Facilities, Mathematics or other related environmental or sustainability discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
