About the Role

Looking for a role that offers meaningful work and flexibility? We’re seeking a passionate Workers Compensation Consultant to provide exceptional support to employees navigating claims under the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act (WA) 2023.

You’ll collaborate closely with our Workers Compensation Lead on complex cases, ensuring claims are handled professionally, confidentially, and in full compliance with legislation and Alcoa’s self-insurance requirements. Additionally, this part-time role offers three days per week at our Bindjareb office in Pinjarra, with your choice of set days, plus options to work from our Perth CBD office or remotely from home for a great work-life balance.

Your key activities and responsibilities will be:

  • Adhering to the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 2023, Alcoa’s self-insurance requirements, and WorkCover reporting obligations.

  • Providing expert advice on workers compensation, engage with stakeholders (medical providers, unions, legal reps), and contribute to departmental meetings.

  • Assessing liability, coordinating investigations and medical assessments, and negotiating settlements fairly and professionally.

  • Implementing cost-minimisation strategies, monitoring trends, and delivering accurate reporting to support decision-making.

  • Assisting with training initiatives and ensuring compliance with WorkCover audit requirements.

What you can bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualification in a medical profession, HR, law or other relevant field would be considered desirable.

  • Solid knowledge of workers compensation legislation and claims management processes.

  • Experience in conciliation proceedings and working within a workers’ compensation environment.

  • Strong skills in time management, confidentiality, and stakeholder engagement, with a respectful and empathetic approach.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and commitment to staying updated on legislative changes and self-insurance requirements.
