The purpose of this role is to drive the Division strategy to support People Leaders and employees in mitigating the impact of accessibility, illness, and injury on work, while also overseeing safety and wellbeing programs across the region.
This role is also formally designated as the organization’s Safety Officer (SO4) in accordance with Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regulations and will concurrently serve as the Environment and Risk Champion.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the management of employee accessibility, illness, and injury, including workers’ compensation and injury insurance, to ensure a safe workplace.
- Identify opportunities for business improvement through WHS programs to prevent ergonomic and psychological injuries and enhance employee engagement.
- Develop and implement strategies for managing claims to reduce costs and improve productivity aligned with the business plan.
- Work with all levels of management and staff to provide comprehensive return-to-work advice and build effective relationships.
- Conduct business impact analysis from WHS data to identify trends and inform actions for risk reduction.
- Keep abreast of legislative requirements and develop policies and procedures for rehabilitation and return to work.
- Develop strong relationships with stakeholders to promote change and strategic advice on rehabilitation and return to work.
- Utilise knowledge in injury management to drive optimal return-to-work outcomes and manage treatment approval.
- Report on and monitor safety and wellness performance, escalating issues to senior management where necessary.
- Fulfill Safety Officer (SO4) accountabilities, ensuring operational compliance with DOLE Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements and supporting regulatory inspections and audits.
- Champion enterprise risk and environmental practices, embedding proactive risk identification and mitigation into operational and people-related processes.

Qualifications:
Necessary Qualifications include:
- Tertiary Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Additional Certifications & Statutory Requirements (Safety Officer)
- Certified Safety Officer 4 (SO4) under DOLE Department Order No. 252-25
- Completion of 40-hour Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) or Construction Occupational Safety and Health (COSH) training from a DOLE-accredited provider
- Completion of at least 80 hours of advanced or specialized OSH training relevant to the industry
- A total aggregate of 320 hours of OSH-related training or experience
