Summary
Provide welding and/or painting repairs and maintenance of commercial containers and facilities as needed. Pick up and deliver containers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Repair, paint and maintain commercial containers.
Use welding equipment to repair all sizes of commercial containers (roll offs, front loads, and compactors), such as sleeves, lids and bottoms.
Fabricate parts as needed for repairs.
Perform minor repairs, painting, installations, or other tasks as needed at Solid Waste and Recycling Services site.
Keep in contact with internal and external customers by telephone.
Transport commercial containers needing paint or repair to the shop or holding area.
Deliver new or repaired containers to customers.
Turn in completed work orders indicating finished repairs to containers to Customer Service.
Drive and operate forklift truck.
Pick up service orders for delivery or exchange of commercial containers.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to obtain Class B Texas Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months of hire.
1+ years’ experience operating as a commercial welder
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications
Education/ Experience:
2-4 years of experience welding fabrication and painting
Class B CDL
Driving experience with a good driving record
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read and write, read maps and perform basic math
Advanced skill in MIG, TIG and stick welding
Skill in air arc gouging
Skill in utilizing a cutting torch
Skill in utilizing a plasma cutter
Skill in aluminum and various metal welding
Licenses and Certifications
Ability to obtain Class B Texas Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months of hire.
Current and valid welding certification is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
The incumbent frequently works exposed to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.
