Job Description

SUMMARY

Assigns work to forklift operators as needed to insure the warehouse meets all internal and external customer demands.  Greets drivers and directs them accordingly to dock times and availability. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Operates and maintains forklift in a safe and efficient manner using work instructions, inspection checklist, visual management and computer interface.

2.Reviews shipping schedule throughout the shift to ensure product is loaded and shipped accurately to meet customer’s requirements.

3. Works with warehouse management team to ensure personnel are assigned as needed to meet warehouse shift staffing requirements. 

4.Ensures accurate inventory counts and notifies cycle counter of discrepancies.

5. Ensures forklift drivers are accurately and safely staging and loading product onto trucks.

6. Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties.

7. Scheduling of dock times for customers.

8. Basic admin. Including filing of bill of ladens.

9. Sign for all incoming materials via FedEx and UPS.

QUALIFICATIONS

 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, SAP, and MIR preferred.  Must demonstrate curiosity and be polite to all customers and drivers.

EDUCATION

High School diploma or general education (GED); or six months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A valid forklift certification, which meets OSHA requirements, is required to perform the essential duties of this job.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or walk for 12 hours and is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.  The employee is regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant.  The employee must also frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in outdoor weather.  Safety glasses are required to be worn.  The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn.  GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.

AUTHORIZATION

Ability to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee’s health and/or safety. Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained. Ability to shut down any if it is down three times in one hour for the same mechanical problem. Authority to contact any staff or management team member with concerns, questions or suggestions pertaining to their job or work environment.
