VP- Product Management Virtual Cards

Overview
The VP Virtual Card Product Management role is responsible for defining, building, and scaling Mastercard’s Virtual Card product portfolio, enabling secure, embedded, and data rich payment experiences across B2B, B2C, and platform based ecosystems.
Virtual cards are a core growth engine for Mastercard Commercial Solutions, supporting use cases such as supplier payments, travel and expense, marketplaces, SaaS platforms, procurement, on demand payments, and embedded finance. Customers increasingly expect tokenized, API first, data enabled, and scalable virtual card services that integrate seamlessly into their workflows while delivering superior control, reconciliation, and fraud protection.
Commercial Solutions is one of Mastercard’s fastest growing segments. As part of this organization, the Virtual Card Product team builds highly available, globally scalable, multi tenant products, with operational resilience, security, and compliance embedded by design.
The VP Virtual Card Product Management is accountable for driving virtual card volume growth, issuer and platform adoption, and SaaS based revenue, by delivering best in class virtual card services, transaction capabilities, APIs, and value added features. These solutions must meet the needs of issuers, platforms, fintechs, corporates, marketplaces, and merchants, while aligning with Mastercard’s broader payment, data, and services strategy.
The role leads a large, senior product organization (10+ Product Managers, 15 feature teams) and is responsible for shaping the end to end product vision, from concept and roadmap to commercialization and in market optimization. The VP will define how Virtual Cards integrate with Mastercard assets such as Smart Data, In Control, Cyber & Intelligence, Open Banking, tokenization, and Digital Enablement Services, ensuring a unified and differentiated proposition globally.
Your primary competencies include product strategy and vision, virtual card transaction models, API and platform design, customer journey orchestration, roadmap prioritization, commercial frameworks, experimentation and hypothesis testing, and scalable go to market execution.

Responsibilities
LEAD
• Define the Virtual Card Product vision and strategy across use cases including T&E, supplier payments, marketplaces, embedded finance, and platform led payments
• Build and articulate the Virtual Card value proposition, including controls, data, reconciliation, security, and scalability
• Own the global product narrative and roadmap, aligned with Mastercard’s Commercial Solutions strategy
• Engage issuers, fintechs, platforms, and enterprise partners in strategic product and commercial discussions leveraging the full Mastercard ecosystem
• Lead, mentor, and scale a high performing product organization of 10+ Product Managers and 15 feature teams
• Define and implement the optimal product operating model, governance, and delivery disciplines
• Champion Mastercard Way values and foster a culture of ownership, excellence, and continuous improvement
• Identify, attract, and retain top-tier product talent
• Serve as an executive sponsor for critical client and partner engagements

DESIGN
• Define the Virtual Card product portfolio, including:
o Card generation and lifecycle management
o Tokenization and transaction processing
o Controls (spend limits, merchant/category controls, validity windows)
o Data enrichment, L2/L3, reconciliation, and reporting
• Design API first, platform ready experiences for issuers, partners, and developers
• Create and own commercial models, pricing frameworks, and monetization strategies
• Build and maintain product roadmaps in close partnership with engineering and architecture teams
• Lead a community of product leaders specializing in payments, APIs, files, UX, data, and transaction services
• Drive consistent, high quality product delivery at scale, meeting customer and market expectations
• Define global go to market strategies, including regional rollout, onboarding models, pricing, and contractual constructs
• Establish product capabilities for implementation, client servicing, and operational enablement
• Set product standards and ensure alignment across platforms, regions, and feature teams
• Sponsor and approve major product deliverables and milestones
• Anticipate risks, dependencies, and scalability challenges across complex initiatives

COLLABORATE
• Partner closely with Commercial, Engineering, Cyber & Intelligence, Data & Services, Open Banking, and Consumer Product teams to deliver cohesive end to end solutions
• Act as a primary prioritization and escalation point for Virtual Card initiatives globally
• Collaborate with regional teams to ensure market relevant adoption and execution
• Engage with issuers, fintechs, processors, and platform partners through workshops, product reviews, and co creation sessions
• Foster strong alignment between global product strategy and regional commercialization needs

Education / Experience
• Extensive experience managing people, products, and complex programs
• Experience in payments, with strong exposure to Virtual Cards, B2B payments, or transaction services
• Experience working with issuers, processors, fintechs, platforms, or large enterprises
• Proven track record of delivering market leading payment products at scale
• Degree in Product Management, Business, Technology, Digital/API, or related fields
